If someone talks about Trump realistically, everything is going to sound like an insult and motivated by hate to someone who wants to think highly of him. Speaking facts about Trump makes MAGA sad.

The made up term TDS says way more about the GOP's lack of character and ethics than the people actually aware of Trump's behavior. It's is on brand for the GOP, given the GOP's brand is shameless hypocrisy.

For me, Trump Derangement Syndrome describes Trump’s behavior.

It’s difficult to take the reference seriously when claimed by someone on the MAGA side given that the fellow they’re enthusiastically supporting sounds quite deranged in nearly every rally given or social media post he issues.

You’re saying every death from COVID in America was preventable by Trump if he had acted differently?

Not necessarily every death, but it could have been way less with more early, decisive action by the federal government. Instead, he left it up to the states to do their own thing without coordination among the states and it was a much bigger disaster than it had to be.

I’m just wondering how we quantify that. Also we now know that some of the lockdown measures had unintended effects like putting children behind, depression, job loss, etc.

I’m ok giving everyone space for not knowing exactly how to respond to the disease. While Trump's remarks were idiotic I have a harder time putting the majority of the blame on him when we were all operating on limited information.

Hell some countries even went for herd immunity, which even Trump wasn’t dumb enough to do. He was pro vaccine, at least until they were released.

I concede that's hard to do. What I do think is fairly self evident is that it could have been handled a lot better.

Yes, and his idiotic commentary on vaccines also exacerbated the problem.
