Got 10 bucks for diapers?

Post by Jersey Girl »

Hello All!

As in the past, I've been looking at various websites for victims of Hurricane Helene, specificialy for diaper banks. FYI while the Red Cross provides disaster relief packages and air drops, diapers are NOT part of the package. We typically think about diapers and wipes for infants and todds, and there are plenty of organizations where you can donate for those, but let's not forget our differently abled persons including youth and adults who need these products for daily use and hygiene.

Imagine yourself bed bound and/or chair bound, incontinent with nowhere to "go" and without a way to address your toileting needs. These are things most of us take for granted but we really can't afford to overlook the fact that our brothers and sisters in hurricane damaged areas are going with out these "must have" daily items in order to maintain their cleanliness and personal dignity, can we? From baby, to youth and all the way to grandma and grandpa! Can we cover that for them? ;)

So...I've got a place that you can donate to if you choose to do so! Check out the organization website below, poke around there and see what you think!

The Diaper Bank of North Carolina
https://www.ncdiaperbank.org/

You don't need to report back here about whether or not you chose to donate. We don't need to know that. I just did want our board community to remember the need for child AND adult diapers and provide a way to help meet that need.

But you know what...let's just do it!
:)

This is what I've got so far for Florida. This is an A.I. generated response and I haven't checked all the listings because I went through the second series of diaper banks, got frustrated and searched up those that offer adult diapers. First is a list of diaper banks that serve Florida with infant/child AND adult diapers. Gonna bold what looks like is going to be the hardest hit area for Hurricane Milton. Second list is where I started...exclusively infant/child.

I DO think at some point Walmart will kick in with supplies. What kind, I have no idea.
I did double check the Red Cross. It looks like they DO provide infant/child diapers in shelters and possibly for distribution. So that's changed now.

But listen, while these folks are sitting around in the rubble waiting for assistance, I really wouldn't want to know they're sitting in pee/poop or developing infections and that's why I do this. To lend dignity to their situation.

Infant/child, adult diapers:

Greater Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank
Located at 120 Southwest 4th Avenue, Hallandale, Florida 33009, this diaper bank provides adult diapers, baby diapers, pullups, and incontinence supplies to the elderly, veterans, disabled, and others in need. You can register for diapers or attend community events to get them.

Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas
This agency offers Diapers for Dignity, a free and anonymous incontinence supply bank. You can call the Helpline at (800) 963-5337 or (727) 217-8111 to learn more about where to get supplies.

Other diaper banks in Florida include:
The Diaper Bank-Covered South Florida: Located in Boca Raton
Healthy Start Coalition of Southwest Florida, Inc. Located in Fort Myers (I think pending storm updates)
Treasure Coast Food Bank: Located in Fort Pierce
Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition: Located in Greenacres
Diaper Bank for Northeast Florida: Located in Jacksonville
Safe Future Foundation, Inc. Located in Jacksonville
Miami Diaper Bank: Located in Miami
Baby Basics of Collier County, Inc. Located in Naples
Junior League of Panama City: Located in Panama City
Junior League of Pensacola: Located in Pensacola

Here's the search results for diaper banks that exclusively provide infant/child diapers:
