So I get from the gist of Trump's speech tonight (didn't watch it, not going to) that he's trying to stop the midterms just as we all expected. He hasn't been able to shut his mouth about it for months. Apparently elections are only rigged or stolen or interfered with when he loses.
He obviously has no self awareness at all. Like we can't see what he's up to. Anyway...
Q 1: What's he so scared of?
It is blazingly obvious what he is afraid of. He knows that he and his policies are wildly unpopular with a huge majority of the American electorate and will certainly lose a fair and honest election. For him it is imperative that he do everything he can think of to purge the election rolls of as many as possible of the majority of voters unlikely to vote against him and thereby rig the election in his favor. Failing that, he would likely try to find some pretext for suspending the election altogether, like, for example, declaring martial law because of the ongoing war he started with Iran.
He knows that he is a convicted felon, and there are a number of other felonies for which he could justifiably and almost certainly be prosecuted if there is a blue wave in the upcoming midterm election.
Q 2: If he manages to stop them...what recourse do we have?
Rapidly diminishing recourse considering his replacement of every of any and all honest, competent and rational agency and department heads with appointees who have no qualifications other than blind, fanatical loyalty to Trump, and firing any and all personnel dedicated to overseeing and exposing and eliminating incompetence and willful corruption. That is a dismaying and frighteningly growing reality.
Q 3: If we manage to pull off a substantial nationwide protest how successful do you think that would be given the presence of armed ICE activity?

I fear a rapidly decreasing likelihood of success given the fact that Trump is preferably and systematically hiring brutal, poorly qualified thugs as ICE agents dedicated to doing whatever he wants, whether legal or not, and at the same time firing or trying to fire any non or bipartisan inspectors dedicated to overseeing and insuring election integrity and honesty.
Despite Trump's claims to the contrary, his "Save America Act" is actually intended to insure the exact opposite of genuinely honest, secure and fair elections for anyone other than unquestionably loyal Trump Sycophants.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.
