Ever the "rebel", Ajax continues to post on our southern forum.
I can almost hear him from here ...

"I can't take up my musket
And fight 'em now no more,
But I ain't going to love 'em,
Now that is sarten sure,
And I don't want no pardon
For what I was and am.
I won't be reconstructed,
And I don't care a damn."
I like that song. But that's not really what my ancestors were about. They lost everything in that war. In under a generation many of them including my family had rebuilt their lives and picked themselves up by their bootstraps. In the case of my 5xgreat grandfather, he did it with bad leg working a physical job. Would they say the fight was worth it if you could ask them now? I don't know, but I'm thankful they didn't roll over and forfeit their honor.

I felt that energy this weekend watching the Trump motorcade roll through town. Big trucks with Trump flags standing up for what's right. We know were outnumbered and outfunded. Why fight if you can't win? I'm just glad candidate Trump never gave up on this country. I owe him for pushing back the decline and devolution of America as long as he has.

And it is amazing that the left calls people blameless who loot stores because they're at least partially outside and wearing a mask. But anyone who goes to their shop and opens for business has blood on his hands. You know that 99.96% of people survive this. You know that the model predicting 20% of people to be left disabled from this virus was as wrong as the day is long. If you didn't you wouldn't have been in line with the protesters breaking their own social distancing guidelines.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

America sucks because of people like ajax. What a shithole country this is.

The irony is not lost on me that a huge number of immigrant Cubans in Miami helped Trump win Florida. Holy damned Christ, propaganda works and people are damned stupid.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

The god idea is popular with desperate people.

Cuban Americans have already suffered the results of socialism. Ya se arrepentieron.

Me too, but perhaps for a different set of reasons.

I get that. Earlier this year I read a novel by George MacDonald Fraser in which one of his characters comments "Sherman said 'war is hell' then set out to prove it" (from memory, so probably paraphrased).

Indeed? I can't imagine it's a popular viewpoint. I haven't come across it at any rate.

I wasn't, but if you feel you're on a roll please don't let that stand in your way.

I've said this before: if I honestly believed all the crap the right wing is fed to them, I'd be scared shitless just like they are.

But seriously... who really thinks looters are blameless? Sure sounds to me like certain people want to conflate legal protest with opportunists, likely because they think it helps their story.

This is the perfect example of what Joe Biden means by Americans seeing each other. Ajax isn't seeing liberals. if he were, he wouldn't be so far off in his descriptions of them. What he is seeing is a caricature of liberals fed to him by Fox and Breitbart. There are extreme anarchists on the left who do not recognize private property rights or give them very little weight. But they are not "liberals." Condoning looting is not a part of modern liberalism.

If Ajax put the effort necessary to stop listening to right-wing media telling him who liberals are and actually talking and listening to liberals to try and learn what they really believe, he would be surprised.

Of course, the "seeing" Biden is encouraging is a two way street. Or maybe a 330 million way street.

When a Religion is good, I conceive that it will support itself; and when it cannot support itself, and God does not take care to support, so that its Professors are oblig’d to call for the help of the Civil Power, ’tis a Sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.
