I switched over from PC to Mac last year. Best damn decision I've made, computer-wise, in a while. Its easy to find software and its basically running Unix, so its a tank.

Damn good laptop.

But, I'm just so frustrated with Microsoft's operating systems, I could scream!

Since I'm doing the music studio, there is a ton of music software for Mac that really interests me.

And, the Macbook that I'm ordering has Microsoft Office for Mac pre-installed, so I can still send documents back and forth as needed.

Everyone I have talked to who owns a Mac say that they would NEVER go back to an IBM PC.

Hell, after using Linux for 3 years, I didn't want to go back to Windows.

Amen to that. Once I got Fedora running (20 minutes from install to full web server) I was hooked.

Need a word processing suite? just open up a shell and type "yum install whatever"...simple, easy and OHHH SO efficient.

Yeah? Well I'm running Windows Vista x64 with 2GB RAM. I also have a TV tuner card (which would be nice if I actually watched TV). I've never had any issues with the Blue-Screen. It's rare that anything crashes. Not only does it run open-source just fine, but it also can play Halo 2 and ShadowRun quite well. I'm actually pondering buying a new video card just to get the extra edge in gaming. Alas, I think it best not to do so at this point as things are already sufficient for my gaming needs.

I have to jam it in and shove it up against the wall so that the thing will stay in. Although my computer actually working is a big step up from it's dead virus filled previous life.

And I need a new uh PC too....I mean the big computer (not the laptop....I guess desktop is the term)....my old one is 4 years old and still works remarkably well....but I was in Best Buy the other day and was basically drooling over the new computers.

I'm actually planning on using the mac as both a desktop and a laptop. It will be my main computer.

What kind of laptop do you have? You may want to try calling the company. You can probably order a new chord from them. You also may be able to find something compatible at Best Buy. It's worth talking to someone to find out.

If you keep using the laptop like that, you're going to end up frying your motherboard if something short-circuits. BACK UP YOUR WORK!

OK...I'm through with my geeky "Mom" lecture now. LOL

I've gotten a new chord...it has something to do with the connection in the back of the computer....It's a Dell (someone's going to say it sucks but it still is remarkably good after almost 3 years...except for the chord issue....which isn't that bad for the most part)

And I'm going to be transmitting any important stuff onto a portable harddrive when I get one (soon hopefully)

But I do all my typing stuff on my desktop usually....my laptops mostly just for games and internet and the insanity that is watching tv while being on the Net.

Alright I almost said "yes mother"...but I remembered your going by MISTRESS these days.

Sweet mother of Steve Jobs!!!!!

I have helped someone come over to the *booming echoy voice* CULT OF MAC!

Liz, which color of Macbook? Those black ones look bitchin.

I switched to Mac back in 2001 just after the release of OS X. I saw the combination of the power of Unix/GNU/Open-source and commercial application support from the power application vendors.

I use a 17" Macbook Pro during the day and a quad processor Mac Pro desktop for the home biz and stirring the pot under the tree in the Shady Acres trailer court.

I know that men do become god. Steve Jobs is a GOD. In one fell swoop he resurrected Apple and stole the Unix desktop from Linux. Apple is the largest distributer of commercial Unix in the world.

And now for a wonderful Youtube clip:

Thanks, PP! I was wondering how long it would take for you to read this! LOL

I'm getting the 13 inch MacBook...The white one. I thought it was pretty. ;)

I wanted something smaller that was portable.

It has an Intel Duo Core processor, and 1GB of memory. It also has Microsoft Office for Mac pre-installed so I can file share when I need to. What really sold me on the Mac was the amount of cool music software that will really help me with my Music Studio home business.

With the educational discount and a $500 line of credit that Apple offered me, I only had to pay $709 up front. I was able to charge that on my AMEX card, and I get a double paycheck next month, so financially, I was able to justify it.

I may be PM'ing you if I have questions.

:)
