[...] Anyway, do you think the government intrusion on the Indian's life is historically accurate? See, there are so many areas of interest in that series you could devote several months of investigation to it. [...]
The reality was even worse. If I recall correctly, it was just earlier this year that the remains of over 200 children were discovered at the site of one of the old schools.

According to a friend of my wife, who is an indigenous Canadian, there is still a lot of discrimination and racism in Canada towards its First Nations peoples.

Thanks, I will look into that eventually. That's kind of who I am. If I find an area of additional interest to me, I pursue it.

I very much regret that is was even worse than what was shown in the series:

If you enjoy supernatural shows, I thought The Haunting of Hill House was an absolute masterpiece. From the cinematography (lots of single-shot scenes, exquisite lighting, etc.) to the intricate dialogue, it is an incredible work of art.

The follow-up series, The Haunting of Bly Manor, on the other hand, was an epic let-down. It was hard to believe that the two shared creation genealogy. I couldn't even make it all the way through the series.

Thank you, Chap. I'll come back to that issue. If I start digging I'll never stop or get anything done around here.

Be prepared. I've been following that story a bit also, It's just heartbreaking.

I liked the 2000? movie version, even though it didn't fare so well. I love Lili Taylor and the movie was beautiful to look at (especially that multi-level gardening greenhouse!) but it wasn't as psychologically scary as it tried to be.

So thanks for the recommendation, I'm looking forward to the series!

I haven't watched Anne with and "E" yet, but based on the glowing recommendations seen on this thread, I will check it out. I enjoyed Queen's Gambit, and I agree it was quite well done. Have any of you watched the Outlander series? I enjoyed that one as well.

There are some excellent documentaries on Netflix that I enjoy. Check out Fantastic Fungi. It is one of the most informative and enjoyable documentaries I have ever watched. Few people realize how pervasive fungi are on our world, and how vital they are to our very existence and survival.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Gunnar I think you would love Anne with an "E"! It's based on the book of Anne of Green Gables but I do think they took multiple liberties with the screen adaptation of the story line to include the addition of more contemporary type social issues. Now. I haven't read or listened to the whole book series so if some of those controversial issues are in one or more of the rest of the books, then I am completely wrong.

Even with the addition of those social issues (gay relationships, for example) I think the Netflix series works and works very well.

I've seen clips of Outlander on youtube but haven't watched the series. I am sure I'll watch far more when winter sets in. I watched the whole Crown series twice and I have lost count of how many times I've watched Anne with an "E". My problem is that I'll re-watch something repeatedly because I tend to pay attention to every little detail layer upon layer, character interaction by character interaction, the multiple story lines, how they are woven together, the foreshadowing, how the screen writers pieced it all together. Hard to explain. I may/may not be legit crazy. ;-)

I think that if you watch Anne, by the last scene you'll be sad that it is over.

I agree on both. I thought Hill House was just stunning.
