Re: Trump's Outrageous, Demonstrably False Claims About McCa
So, is nobody who plans to vote for Trump in 2020 going to turn up and explain to us how, despite all appearances Trump is not a coward and a liar who has insulted an American war hero and his family?
Subgenius?
Ajax18?
Ceeboo?
... or if it is not disputed that he is a coward and a liar who has insulted an American war hero and his family, could you not at least remind us why you still like the idea of someone like that being in the White House?
Just asking.

I thought Trump attended the funeral sitting next to Melania. The other Presidents, Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Carter sat in another row than Trump. Unless that was Bush Sr.'s funeral I am remembering.

Aside from flashes of integrity and intelligence from people like Shep Smith and Chris Wallace, that is seemingly becoming increasingly apparent.
Yep. I specifically chose to say "Fox News opinion shows" because I agree that Smith and Wallace are decent reporters.

Yeah, there seems to be a huge disconnect between Fox News and everything they put out for entertainment. It's pretty weird, actually. All those Seth MacFarlane atheist slanted shows feel totally out of place given the network's apparent political leanings.
But then again, money Trump's all, so it's not really so out of place. His shows make money.

There is a possibility that when Trump referred to Senator McCain as "not my kind of guy", that he was paying him a high - albeit unrecognized - compliment.

I'm sure he didn't mean it that way, but you're correct about the consequence. I'd hate to think Trump regarded me as his kind of guy, too.

Between him feuding with a Gold Star Family, taking a giant crap on POWs, and lying about dead American soldiers, I doubt this latest thing will even register on the outrage scale for Trump cultists.

I see that ajax18 has been and gone without making any response to the question posed above:
So, who'll be next to pass by on the other side?

It's really simple. The GOP is now a cult.

Re: Trump's Outrageous, Demonstrably False Claims About McCa
When Trump made the comment "I like people who weren't captured", I thought that was the end of his campaign. I thought that one simple statement reflected the totality of Donald Trump's world, a world where one man's suffering and heroism does not fit his personal agenda, and therefore he dismissed it.
I've always wanted to ask a few follow up questions, like whether or not Trump thought he was capable of doing a night carrier landing in an A-4E Skyhawk, the aircraft McCain piloted. The A-4E had a top speed of about 700 mph. McCain's was shot down by an SA-2 missile, which had a top speed of about 1,800 mph. A tone alerted the pilot if there was a missile lock. McCain received the missile lock signal right in the middle of his dive to the target. He waited a second to drop his bombs before beginning evasive maneuvers.
So one question I would ask Trump would be exactly how he would have avoided capture in this situation.
The unconscious pilot that fell to the ground was, in some ways, the military equivalent of Donald Trump. His father was an Admiral. With respect to the Navy, John McCain was born with 2 silver spoons in his mouth. He could have used his father's connections to ride out the war in a far less hazardous duty.
Donald Trump had his own self-described sexual Vietnam, bragging about dodging STDs from Supermodels on Howard Stern while McCain dodged SAMs over North Vietnam. If Donald Trump didn't dodge an STD, he got a penicillin shot. McCain didn't dodge one SA-2 and spent 5 1/2 years as a POW.
As a 72 year old man, one could possibly expect the President of our country to look back over his life having gained wisdom and compassion. You might expect a real estate developer who self-interests and pleasures were more important that fighting a war might have some compassion for the suffering of the men that did. Clearly he is incapable of doing so.
Donald Trump is a prisoner of his own narcissism. If any of his supporters think otherwise, I invited you to look all of the comments he has made about John McCain, and ask yourselves why he is incapable of understanding his bravery and heroism, and acknowledging his suffering. And while he is President, the sick pronouncements of his Narcissism land with the weight of an Executive Branch. Most of the GOP remains silent, too afraid of the base to have the courage to defend John McCain.
This is the McCarthyism of Narcissism, except that our 'Tail Gunner Joe' is actually in the White House.

John McCain wrote:I reacted automatically the moment I took the hit and saw that my wing was gone. I radioed, ‘I’m hit,’ reached up, and pulled the ejection seat handle. I struck part of the airplane, breaking my left arm, my right arm in three places, and my right knee, and I was briefly knocked unconscious by the force of the ejection.
