Social distancing has likely already begun to flatten the curve...Continue to research good antivirals and vaccine candidates. Make everyone wear masks. -- J.D. Vance
Redditor compiles a list of names with embedded links explaining how each person is responsible for “shifting the Overton window off the cliff” for the GOP. Here’s a tidy summary from the link:
Edit: For the sake of clarity, let me explain what you're looking at; these are the men who are, in my opinion, most responsible for the current state of the Republican party and American politics in 2022.
These are the people who radicalized the Republican party, they did it through propaganda, they did it through legislation, they did it through money, they did it through manipulation, and they did it through influence. If you believe in the Overton window then you should know that these are some of the men who threw the window off the cliff, down the mountain side, and straight into crazytown.
If you're a casual politics enjoyer and don't understand why the government just can't seem to get crap done anymore, up to and including shutting itself down once in a while, then these are the men you have to thank for Republican intractability. If you're just a normal person and hate that your dad keeps sending you emails about how Hillary Clinton will come to your house and eat your baby if you install energy efficient lights in your garage, then you need to know that these are the people who have been poisoning your father with propaganda for decades. If time travelers exist, these are some of the people we would want to send to art school, or offer psychedelics, or hook up with a big tiddy goth girlfriend, for the good of the timeline.
Again, there are hundreds more names that could go into the Time Traveler Art Scholarship hat, but giving these specific folks a paintbrush would have made a lot of difference to the modern world, I think.
I recommend clicking on the link, and then clicking on the links. It’s eye-opening.

Thanks for posting that, Doc. It may be one of the best things I've seen posted on Reddit. Lots of names on the list are not surprising. But some surprised me. If I'd ever heard of the Powell memo, I'd forgotten all about it. So, when I saw his name, I clicked the link. The piece by Moyers is a great analysis of how businesses began to politically organize during the 1970s in a way that dramatically changed the political landscape in the U.S. It also reminded me about how talented a journalist Moyers is.

Liar about what?
The logic being applied here is hysterical. It is like me saying nobody on this forum ever paid tithing because you do not agree with Daniel Peterson.
Gadianton, as usual, wins a prize. He thinks I did not vote for Bernie in 2016 because Bernie is vaccinated and so am I. The “F” what?
I voted for Bernie, yes. Absolutely. And for Tulsi.
Tulsi is a Republican trying to pretend to be Democrat. Bernie Sanders stands for virtually everything you're against.
Kevin, there is a flavor of Sanders supporter that Binger fits neatly into. I'd describe it as something like anti-establishment/populist/contrarian. Sanders pulled some support from folks who identified with the Tea Party because of his anti-establishment stance, including the corporate democratic party. Because his focus was economic policy, he didn't get tangled up in culture war issues that might have turned those voters off. His supporters were an eclectic bunch.

Agreed. His campaign, albeit peculiar, was pleasant. I liked it.
I believe that Kishkumen has written some about the process in 2016 and how the process contributed to dooming Hillary.

As far as anti-establishment goes, that's basically Trump's schtick too. And based on what Binger has posted in his short, trollish and obnoxious history here, he's anxious to carry the water for the Right at every opportunity. From the bogus crack pipe story, to the idea that white criminals in Canada are actually heroes. I can easily catalog everything he's supported or claimed and connect it to some Right Wing outlet. At least ajax wears his bias on his sleeve and references Brietbart. On virtually all the big issues, Binger is at odds with Sanders. Bernie is in favor of police reform which Binger has criticized and mocked. Sanders is in favor of the voting rights act which Binger has recently criticized as a Democrat plot to take power. Sanders is in favor of vaccines and mandates which Binger has criticized, etc etc. All FOX News talking points coming from his keyboard. It would be one thing if these were just minor issues and Sanders was neutral, but he's spoke on these issues and it is clear Binger disagrees with him. So why even mention that you voted for him way back in 2016? Because he wants to present himself as non-partisan.

Yes, Trump postures himself as an anti-establishment populist. But neither Trump nor the GOP has exclusive rights to anti-establishment populism. It's an ideology that includes people on both the right and the left.
In my lifetime, I have voted for lots of candidates with whom I had serious disagreement on some issues, including both Clintons. Bernie Sanders isn't a prophet that requires his acolytes to adopt every position he articulates. Even his strong supporters get to disagree with him on issues. If one is anti-establishment, what a candidate is against can be more important than what a candidate is for. And, as presidential candidates go, Bernie is about as anti-establishment as it gets.
The political spectrum isn't just left/right or pro Trump/anti Trump. It's multi-dimensional.

Interesting. I voted for Bernie Sanders and I voted for Tulsi. I am extremely proud of those votes. I think they were both much better choices than the candidates that won the contests.
Most of what you say about me is nonsense. Your conclusions, as usual, are unfounded. If I am a bogeyman mascot for you on this forum, great. You are welcome. That does not make your assumptions or conclusions factual or accurate.
The chances of me ever agreeing with any politician, on every issue, is exactly zero. The chances of me wholly agreeing with any party is exactly zero. The chances of you accurately deducing where a person stands on everything based on online discussions about a few things is likely to be closer to zero than 1 (100 percent).
