I guess he finally landed on cynical asshole. Quite a ringing endorsement. Of course, he’s completely wrong, but his shot at immortality was too juicy to pass up.

Yeah, thuggery is a lot better than laughs.

Re: Trump-Vance 2024
Looks like America’s bully has once again succeeded with the old “dog ate my homework” excuse: “I would have had a great presidency if it had not been for COVID. No, wait, I had the best presidency ever, but they took half of it away from me with Russia, Russia, Russia, so I need a do-over pronto!”Res Ipsa wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 11:54 pm[Emphasis mine.]J.D. Vance wrote:What Trump offers is an easy escape from the pain. To every complex problem, he promises a simple solution. He can bring jobs back simply by punishing offshoring companies into submission. As he told a New Hampshire crowd—folks all too familiar with the opioid scourge—he can cure the addiction epidemic by building a Mexican wall and keeping the cartels out. He will spare the United States from humiliation and military defeat with indiscriminate bombing. It doesn’t matter that no credible military leader has endorsed his plan. He never offers details for how these plans will work, because he can’t. Trump’s promises are the needle in America’s collective vein.
The great tragedy is that many of the problems Trump identifies are real, and so many of the hurts he exploits demand serious thought and measured action—from governments, yes, but also from community leaders and individuals. Yet so long as people rely on that quick high, so long as wolves point their fingers at everyone but themselves, the nation delays a necessary reckoning. There is no self-reflection in the midst of a false euphoria. Trump is cultural heroin. He makes some feel better for a bit. But he cannot fix what ails them, and one day they’ll realize it.
I’m not sure when or how that realization arrives: maybe in a few months, when Trump loses the election; maybe in a few years, when his supporters realize that even with a President Trump, their homes and families are still domestic war zones, their newspapers’ obituaries continue to fill with the names of people who died too soon, and their faith in the American Dream continues to falter. But it will come, and when it does, I hope Americans cast their gaze to those with the most power to address so many of these problems: each other. And then, perhaps the nation will trade the quick high of “Make America Great Again” for real medicine.

Eventually, someone talked sense into J. D. He learned that liberals would only look to him for enlightenment on their rural problems for so long. And his own people wouldn’t love him for kissing up to liberals. So, he did what he needed to do to stay relevant. Because, at the end of the day, ambition is going to swallow you up. He convinced himself that he needed to be the person to make it through this Trump nightmare and pick up the pieces when it is over. He is young. He could still run for the top spot after Trump’s next two terms. I am really going to love watching the Republicans explain away Trump’s catatonic state to voters. Gourd and Vance, 2032!

He's good at that I admit. Trump is cultural heroin. He makes some feel better for a bit. But he cannot fix what ails them, and one day they'll realize it.Binger wrote:I think Trump Vance 2024 will be getting more hits and clicks

I knew it. You a Tupac guy.
Teamsters President Sean O'Brien says the Left called him a "traitor" for accepting the invitation to speak at the RNC Convention.
Dang. Is the Left Mormon? Yeeesh.
Can't recall what I have posted. Y'all have not a damn thing to say about the teamster president speaking at the RNC. C'mon. Nothing? He was the final speaker at the RNC. He speaks for labor, people with jobs. I'll explain what that means later.
McConnell got bood at the convention. Okay, my work is done. Damn shame Romney and the former GOP can't be there to be told goodbye. That would be lovely. The democrats are probably more crying sad about McConnell being bood than the Teamsters being invited.
Elon Musk went from being an Obama voter to pledging $180 million to elect Trump.
The woke left really screwed up. Badly.

Re: Trump-Vance 2024
Vance said earlier this year he would not have certified the 2020 election results as vice president. I can’t find the direct quote, but multiple places report he wouldn’t have until some states put in place (fake) Trump electors.
He claims he will accept the 2024 results as long as the election is free and fair. Dog whistle speak for if they win it was right and if they lose clearly something illegal happened.

Anyone who claims to support Trump is de facto a douchebag. If you yearn for an asshole to lead this country, or simply vote for an asshole, you are an asshole, despite the BS stories you tell yourself.
The only possible excuse you might have is ignorance. So damned open a book.
ETA: I say this knowing full well the people who most need to open a book never damned will. They have an investment in ignorance. damned assholes.

I hope I'm reading it right. Apparently he's brilliant which is my conclusion. Educated at an Ivy League School. Lawyer. He who could be spitting tobacco and shooting road signs, but wrote a best selling book. Married, father of three. Reared by his grandparents. He was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Hindu. First time Senator. So was Obama. He's from a key state, Ohio, that people say is really needed for the election. Seems to be open to new information. Not afraid to speak his mind which means he may say somethings that Trump doesn't want to hear but needs to.
How will he appear to mid to upper class ladies of Arizona? not sure but we shall see. But from what I heard a few years ago you can predict who is going to win the Presidential election - at least in the foreseeable on how they vote.
