I'm sure we talked about this before, huck. I remember you mentioning living in Walla Walla. My wife and I visited while living in Spokane (my wife was very into the wine country) and Walla Walla that weekend was brutally hot. I want to say we were there in July but I can't be certain.huckelberry wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 5:34 pmI am in Walla Walla, which is year around a bit warmer than Spokane.I checked our weather forecast it is very close to same as Spokane, 104 is the highest so far this summer here, are you sure about 109? Well weather can produce odd variations. I am not sure if there is any reflection of climate change. July with some triple digit spells is normal here. This year June was a bit cooler than usual and July a bit hotter to my rough estimate.
I think what may reflect climate change more is the episodes of extreme smoke which have occurred in recent years.

Just once -- a nearby weather station clocked 101.8 on July 9. Way too hot for us wusses on the wrong side of the Cascades.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 5:13 pmHave you guys popped a hundred this year?Bret Ripley wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 4:01 pmI'm on the west side, a bit south of Tumwater -- we are expecting 93 today. We've already had several days of 90+ this year, which seems weird.

Some Schmo, If one is to visit Walla Walla, April May June or October are much better than July.Of any month of the year July is least variable, hot and dry. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 5:46 pmI'm sure we talked about this before, huck. In Seattle’s Northern burbs, we’ve had a few days in the mid 90’s this summer. What we’re seeing is longer hot stretches without rain. The most noticeable effect of climate change has been, as Huck said, smoke season. There are lots of fires in northern BC and Alberta, as has become the new normal. All it takes is a blocking High in the right place, and all that smoke heads this way. I saw red flag warnings last night for the eastern part of the state. Best wishes from the coast for no lightning and light winds.

Phoenix is just going to be hot. What's getting us this year isn't the daytime highs but that it isn't cooling down as much at night. We've had multiple days where it didn't drop below 90 at night. That's more scary than when our daytime highs hit in the high 110s or approach 120.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 2:01 pmMy hometown used to be so cool that hardly anyone bothered with AC in the 70’s and 80’s. How hot is it where you live?

Larger increases in nighttime temperatures than in day time temperature is one of key fingerprints of greenhouse gases as the cause of global warming.honorentheos wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 9:44 pmPhoenix is just going to be hot. High desert climate here,7600ft if that helps.
Mid seventies to mid eighties during the day. A few days higher.
Fifties at night with cool mountain air.
Swamp cooler to help with hotter days. Windows open at night.
In keeping with what we're used to having this time of year here. Thankfully, far less hail than usual and a bit of rain!
