Thanks, drumdude. And thank you for challenging me for being overly upset. I thought it was helpful.

Agreed.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 6:17 pmYeah. I am not sure whether everything I choose to post is wise to spend my time posting. Life has finite time that will be spent on one thing or another. But I hate being one of the people who contributes to collective insanity. Choosing not to post some things would at least result in less fuel to the fires of madness. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 2:09 pmI can relate to this Kish, although my regrets aren't what I said, but that I said them at all. Just because I think what I've said was true doesn't mean those things had to be said (although they always feel like they should be said in the moment).
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

Oh no what did you do?
All I've seen from you lately are passionate posts from one who cares deeply.

I like passion rather than dispassionate academic mush. Kudos to Kishkumen for showing the strength of his convictions.

I feel the same way about Kish. He is one of the most knowledgeable and eloquent people I have ever encountered. I can't blame him for getting passionate about much of what is going on in the world today. I learn something valuable from him almost every time he posts.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 3:36 amOh no what did you do?All I've seen from you lately are passionate posts from one who cares deeply.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Here is an example: I called Binger a useless troll. That is inaccurate. He does post things here and there that are dead on, well reasoned, and worth reading. So, he is not a useless troll, and it was inaccurate and unkind to say so. His antics are often frustrating and distracting, much like a troll's, but an inveterate, useless troll does not really contribute anything of value.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 3:36 amOh no what did you do?All I've seen from you lately are passionate posts from one who cares deeply.

Aw, that is very kind, Gunnar. It feels good to receive some praise now and then.Gunnar wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 9:14 amI feel the same way about Kish. Not at all. I was giving you a compliment and praise. Being feisty is an honest response to a world gone topsy-turvy, where strong defenses are issued for the otherwise unimaginable. When we live in the age of Trump and past values of honesty and integrity fall by the wayside, yours was an appropriate lone voice in the wilderness.

No need to apologize to me. I'm the same way. You're a very intelligent man and I enjoy hearing your perpsective. We have very different views on both religion and politics but that doesn't mean we can't discuss them without honor and mutual respect.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 1:28 pmHey, everyone:
I want to apologize for bringing down the discussion with my heated responses to various posters. I know it is a weakness of mine. I give into it, and then I regret it. All I can say is that I will try to do better. We talk about the big taboo subjects of religion and politics here, which I know is a risky thing to do, and still that is not an excuse for attacking others or treating them poorly.
I apologize especially to Binger, drumdude, ajax18, ceeboo, and Dr. Shades. If I have left anyone out, I apologize for that, too.
