I was puzzled by the money transaction so I read around a bit. I gather that the money came from wealthy private boosters. I felt some relief that it was not church or school funds better used for other purposes but I find such money for college recruiting bizarre.

I recall reading a Deseret article about their current football coach. He was recruited by another school for a gigantic salary, but the article said he stayed at BYU for spiritual reasons. I thought it was more likely that the bump in his salary to match the offer was what kept him there, but I'm sure some type of prayer was involved also.

I'm just amazed at this point in time any major school is willing to be named for the racist, misogynist, authoritarian - Brigham Young.
