I'm in the black, so my personal opinions. I shouldn't have to bother Shades with any of this. I only have to because Mike gets up every morning and decides to troll and harass and take a crap all over the board.

No one should have to tell a grown man not to harass Lem the way Mike has. There is no excuse. None. He's taken a forum where he has more latitude to discuss stuff than most other places, and his response is to get up every day and take a crap all over it. That's his choice. No one forces him to post here.

I obviously can't discuss moderator stuff in the black, but it doesn't take a genius to understand how this works. If you push the limits hard enough, the limits get moved. What Mike is doing is out and out harassment, with Lem as the clearest target. If he acted toward Lem in the workplace the way he has here, he'd be out of a job and/or have a much smaller bank account. There is simply no excuse for a grown man to behave this way. If someone behaved that way toward his daughters in his presence, I suspect he'd punch them into next week.

So, this really goes one of a couple ways. Mike can stop crapping all over the board. If I got to vote, that's what I'd vote for. The second is we end up with anti-harassment rules which we shouldn't have to need. The third is a substantial portion of the board membership gives up on this place. All because one guy refuses to exhibit basic human decency. The process of getting to alternatives two or three will be so unpleasant we may lose a bunch of folks anyway.

So, I hope Mike stops. Just stops.

Well, speaking as a man, I think you sized up the situation good and proper. Also, anti-harassment is already part of the Universal Rules. I don't see why that can't be used to make a determination in this case.

As I stated previously, on his worst days and at his worst, ldsfaqs was sincere in what he posted. He ended up in the queue for it. Atlanticmike and his sock-wearing variants are simply and admittedly just screwing around with the place and it's posters or as you put it, intentionally taking a crap all over the board.

Well good luck with all of this. It's always good to hear a variety of perspectives. I appreciate feeling that I've been heard.

Would you rather we take political, science or other types of discussions into the Celestial Forum? If not, where is there a space on this board for polite off topic discussion? Here in the Spirit Paradise Forum which is rated G - PG 13 when the Celestial Form is strictly rated G? That gives us no specific forum in which to engage in polite discussion without interference as there is for Mormon related discussion.

You are the Creator of this board, are you not? If you are the Creator of the board don't you have the power to spring a third forum into existence?

Recall that, in the past, we had a number of female posters exit the board on account of sexually harassing remarks.
Recall that, in the past, one male poster here directly suggested that I “F” a specific male poster and you ruled against that.
Recall that, in the past, ldsfaqs was put on the queue for spamming this board with his political rhetoric.
Recall that, in the past, you disabled the emoticons feature here because you said it gave the board the appearance of a kindergarten coloring book.

If you look into the threads here, you will see Atlanticmike plastering the same type of incendiary rhetoric, including sexually harassing remarks within the threads and putting up repeated screaming/yelling thread titles in ALL CAPS in the same way that ldsfaqs did only instead of LIBERALS and LEFTISTS, it's PROGRESSIVES!!!! when we have other forms of emphasis available to us, as well as the excessive use (in my opinion) of emoticons.

Say what you will about ldsfaqs but his commentaries were always sincere in nature. Not so with Atlanticmike and his sock wearing variants who freely and fully admits that he's here to screw with people here and openly brags about it.

What does this make the board look like to new posters or lurkers looking for a discussion forum? A combination kindergarten coloring book/soft porn hub/asylum?

This board already has a rule in place regarding harassment of posters. It's clear as day that Atlanticmike is targeting, primarily, Lem with sexually harassing remarks, and to a lesser extent myself, because she is a known female here. He has been interacting with unknown female posters ( no names, wild horses) here since the day he tripped in here and yet, the sexual remarks he's making are made directly to known female posters. That makes the case for targeted sexual harassment.

Let us know what your ultimate ruling is on this. As you have time, of course. I'm not asking for an immediate ruling. I'm asking that you consider all things and points of views that have been expressed here as you normally would do. I'm not trying to pressure you, Shades. I'm only trying to get all my thoughts logged in here because I, too, have an in real life to address.

I am not talking about one-off exclamations of exasperation of the "Wow you are dumb" variety, but such matters as the continuous use of sexual expressions of a kind that serve no purpose other than to provoke and make people feel so uncomfortable that they cease to post, even if there is no credible threat to personal safety.

(b) The kind of trolling that Cultellus originally engaged in - a continuous flow of nonsensensical posts which functioned solely to disrupt dialog on the board and discourage participation.

Both of these are relatively new threats, and demand new countermeasures.

Regarding A (First of Couple/First of Three): Icarus, Schmo, Gadianton and one of the moderators can stop painting with fecal graffiti all over the board. I am very serious about this point, Res. Very serious. Do not take it any less lightly than your own suggestion.

Regarding Option B: Anti-Harassment laws will be the end of the joint. Do what you gotta do. Harassment is bad. Mocking a pussyhat that was worn by millions of petulant people to protest an election result, ain’t law worthy.

Lem and Jersey are upset because they thought once a moderation team is in place, I wouldn't be able to calm down and stop cussing and going totally bonkers on Doc, Schmo and ICARUS. But!
