Agreed. This is like a week and a half of something to worry about.

I suspect there is a possibility that starting later in September images from this debate will start appearing all over television, adds paid for by a campaign committee.

How do you debate against someone who lies nonstop?
Just start barking at him until he freaks out.

Doc, I think Biden was attempting something like this. He was looking around with an expression hoping to look like, how can anybody believe what is being said here? However it ended up looking more like confusion and uncertainty.

The two minute blocks were almost tailored to the Trump BS machine. It's hardly enough time to say anything of substance already while being quickly eroded. So you're right. Or maybe just acknowledging the restriction of the format and telling moderators since one's own time is limited to talk about actual reality they're gonna have to decide if they want to try and wrangle the gish gallop.

So the fact checking is rolling out in more depth now. And here's one I'm curious to hear on from our Trump or populist supporting friends as to where they come down:

Trump, on Biden: “He wants to raise your taxes by four times.”

THE FACTS: That’s not accurate.

Trump has used that line at rallies, but it has no basis in fact. Biden actually wants to prevent tax increases on anyone making less than $400,000, which is the vast majority of taxpayers.

More importantly, Biden’s budget proposal does not increase taxes as much as Trump claims, though the increases are focused on corporations and the wealthy. Trump’s 2017 tax cuts for individuals are set to expire after 2025, because they were not fully funded when they became law.

Does it seem like Murphy's Law is playing out in real life with American politics?

Not so sure, Biden, like all of us needs to think about entropy and atrophy as it moves exponentially against him during the next few months. Trump, too. As to Biden, it looks like the media thought they couldn't keep these age related issues hidden anymore and needed to report them.

I don't know what the answer is. Certainly the media would not repeatedly print photos of JFK using braces, or FDR using braces and a wheelchair. But FDR had polio and JFK was hurt in WW2.

If there's a history of holding back on photos and information why doesn't Biden get the same thing?

Trump should have said, by the end of a Biden second term you will be paying four times what you paid for a cheeseburger when he first became president. Your grocery bill which was 100 when he started is now 500. If you are okay with that then vote for him.

I'm curious. What's your evidence that the media were attempting to keep these age-related issues under wrap?
