I know the answers to these!

Do you know what your BMI is?

Yes. Though there are controversies regarding the BMI.

Is it under 25% ?

25.1

What's your resting heart rate?

60-65 bpm

What's your blood pressure?

96/58 the other day

Do you smoke?

If I'm with certain relatives back East and they offer me one, then I do.

Do you drink alcohol?

Never

How's your diet?

Heart healthy and I cheat

Do you exercise, if so do you exercise enough to get your BMI under 22% ?

Yes but not enough to get below 22 and I wouldn't.

Have you had your blood tested to see if you're deficient in things like vitamin D?

All the flippin' time.

Do you get out in the sun at least once a day?

 Year round. I live at high altitude. I'm in the sun even inside the house.

How's your water intake, do you drink a crap ton of water?

 Constantly. I live at high altitude.
That last one made me laugh, although I needed to learn to drink a crap ton of water some years ago not because of altitude, but because I lived in a damn desert and worked an outside job during university years.

Both SO and I tick off all of AM’s boxes on the good side, but - like Xeno - we’ll take nothing for granted. We eat well, get outside for fun and to balance out our work week (the step app is showing just under 1400 miles on the year so far), and happily got jabbed when the vaccine was made available. I have to be around plenty of other folks and travel at times anyway; being vaccinated is an effortless advantage in helping to support my community and workmates.

Being evil heathens, though, we’re prone to drinking an occasional glass of wine. Good for the heart; good for the palate, health-conditions-permitting. : )

Also this.
NEW YORK, NY—After conducting several trials, Pfizer has announced that their vaccine is now almost as safe for kids as getting COVID is.

"We are very proud of this achievement," said a Pfizer spokesperson. "We can now confidently say that there is only a very small chance your child will suffer life-altering complications or death from the vaccine. Chances are still a bit higher than the chances of your kid dying from COVID, but hey! Give us some credit here! Not bad, huh?"

Experts confirmed that even though there is a statistically 0% chance of kids dying from COVID, parents should still require kids to get the vaccine immediately, to make up for Pfizer's financial loss from the FDA not approving booster shots right away.

"Besides," said one expert, "kids are puny and can't even fight back with their skinny little arms and legs. Just get them vaccinated—to protect yourself—since your safety is the highest priority here."

Pfizer is hoping they can get kids fully vaccinated before their Q3 sales numbers come out.
Holy hell, did you really just post a Babylon Bee article as an actual source? I mean, I've enjoyed watching you play "let's pretend I'm an important hospital bigwig" as much as the next person, but this takes it to a whole new level! Next up will come the "why won't anybody take me seriously?!?!?" tantrum, followed by the mass deletion of posts to hide your shame until the next time you decide to play pretend. Just a heads up, though, it would be funnier if it wasn't so damned predictable.

At the -16.00 mark, the doctor says that 75% of the hospitalized patients in his hospital are vaccinated. I suppose that is good news, right? The goal is to get the vaccinated/total hospitalized patients to 100%, right?
Maybe I'm missing something but I jumped to about 14 minutes and listened to about 18 and didn't hear that mentioned. That would be interesting but I was hoping to hear it and get some context.

Your time stamp is the dad/doc talking about fear of supervisor retaliation and the story he gives is about a knee injection.

I think he made a typo - The part about the doctor saying that 75% of the hospitalized patients are vaccinated is around the 11:20 mark.

ETA - Looks like Cultellus posted a correction.

Thanks, that got me there. He may mention it (honestly I don't have time to listen to the whole thing right now) but I'm curious what part of the country his hospital is in. As we've discussed numerous times, in areas with very high vax rate it isn't surprising to see most patients being those that are vaxed. Some other context I would have to know to draw some conclusions, how do their cases per 100k compare to other areas, bed utilization %, ICU vs standard hospitalization rate, and so on.

For me I've mostly spent my time concerned with what my local network looks like. Frankly it doesn't matter for my day to day or the health and well being of my family and friends what Florida or New York look like. Here we are at just shy of 40% fully vaxed, cases per 100k is hovering around 150, and ICU capacity is at 98%. I have it from someone fairly high up in the hospital system here that I trust that it is between 70 and 80% non vaxed in the ICU right now (please take it with as much salt as you need, I'm not able to verify it) .

I'll try to listen more as I get time (to be read as "not on useless Teams calls all day") .

Yeah. That is right. My bad. I almost got it right by including the minus in front of 16:00, but I definitely got this one wrong.
No harm, no foul. I just misunderstood the intent of the "-".

The goal is not to have 100% of hospitalized Covid-19 patients to be vaccinated patients.

That end result could occur if the vaccines are pathogenic and the virus is either cleared or it's a hoax. If the vaccines are making people sick and the non-vaccinated aren't sick, then 100% of the hospitalized patients will be vaccinated patients. And so as the proportion of hospitalized patients leans toward vaccinated patients, the unhinged right will "affirm the consequent"; a higher percentage of hospitalized vaccinated patients is proof that the vaccines either aren't working or they are making people sick. These people, of course, are somewhere between being total morons or outright evil. They are reprehensible as human beings.

As a consequence of reaching 100% vaccination rates, of course we would expect to see 100% of hospitalized patients vaccinated. But we don't need to infer vaccination rates by hospitalizations, we get that data elsewhere, directly.

Cultellus, apologies but in an attempt for brevity I didn't list the million questions I would want to ask. I went with where his hospital is (or which one specifically if available) because I imagine we could sus out lots of other pertinent data including demographics if we had a smaller area to cast our net.

The only reason geography is super pertinent to me is that as a layman the only "worry" I have is for my local network and how those people are holding up. There are people way smarter than me and actually in the trenches that will slice and dice this, especially after the fact, that will hopefully help us better prepare for the next pandemic. I have no doubt that when this is all said and done we're going to have a long period of introspection on what worked, what didn't, and what was most effective (I know lots of these debates are happening right now) but I don't have much to offer that conversation. I'm currently more focused on a neighbor having to have their scheduled in-patient procedure 3 counties over for lack of beds here.

The VA piece does seem like it could be very interesting. I'm very unfamiliar with their inner workings other than a small clash over my grandfather's care when I was much younger. I imagine chronic under funding, extra bureaucracy, and a very specific demographic group likely causes a very different scenario.
