The nation is on a suicide slide to Trump, so it matters little who the Democratic Party picks. Once that die is cast Vance will ensure that no further fair elections will occur.

As the dust is settling I'll say that I'm hopeful he worst of my fears may not come to fruition. I'm assuming Biden and team put a lot of work in behind the scenes before announcing given the quick and wide support thrown behind Harris and most of the potential contenders (the real ones, not the vanity ones) backing her. Because of that the Democrats seem in a solid position. Coupled with the quick fundraising resurgence this was a good 24 hours for them.

I'll be interested to see if we ever get a peek behind the curtain on this decision and its timing. Apart from if he had stepped down much earlier this seems to have been timed fairly well politically. Biden let himself be the punching bag for the RNC convention and then steals the news cycle back for Harris in a way that also shielded her from that focus.

In terms of resetting the narrative, it seems to be a winner, and it appears to have set Trump & Co. on their heels. The thing that troubles me about all of this is the influence of the "narrative" on the realities of politics. The whole process has been warped almost entirely out of recognition. Biden had one of the most successful records of a first term president in recent US history, if not the most. That the public perception of his cognitive functions should have pushed him out of the race between the primaries and the convention is unprecedented and alarming. Democratic Party members voted for Biden. Their vote was effectively scotched by polls and party leaders. I find the whole thing twisted.

I don't know which threads to make posts on at this point. Anyway...FOX News.

Harris isn't a legitimate presidential candidate. (Greg Gutfeld) Does he even HEAR himself?

Biden's been in hiding out in seclusion. (Laura Ingraham) The man has freaking Covid.

Oh and something from Ingraham about how he sent a phone message to the campaign endorsing Harris and pledging to get out on the trail for her. Ingraham said to the effect that if he can't come out of hiding he needs to resign because he has no right to live in the White House. I guess... because he's phoning it in? He's got Covid.

This is but a small sampling of what I hear every day of my life.

I used to watch some fox, I thought Gutfield tried hard to sound as stupid as possible in order to help other like Ingraham sound smart.

I don't watch Fox. It's being watched in my home. That's how I come across this type of thing. I have little tolerance for their "broadcasts". If I didn't know better, I would think I was hearing a parody.

But no. It's real. And it's influential.

Yeah, FOX infotainment is pretty awful stuff. Chris Wallace and Shep Smith were good eggs. Neil Cavuto has struck me as sane. Beyond that . . .

(No, this is not an actual Fox chyron. At least not yet.)

I disagree with the comment from ‘Hoodlum’, though. I think that Fox can come up with more.
