ETA: I haven't heard about this even ONCE. It's an anti-parastic apparently used to treat round worms in canines. It's apparently been used to treat other diseases/conditions in humans. Jesus God why haven't I heard about this? What's going on???? This guy is basically screaming that they've GOT an FDA approved drug that can be repurposed that WORKS and is SAFE. He's waiting for a peer review to complete the work. He's begging the NIH and others to look at their research. If the NIH or whomever--FDA/CDC--- would review their study they could fast track FDA approval to use it off label to treat Covid????

The difference between the two Cuomo quotes is, of course, context. There was a time when Trump was attempting to impose his own ignorant opinions into the process of granting EUAs to therapeutics. The hydrochloriquine debacle is a good example, Cuomo was right to express concern about vaccine development being rushed for political reasons, with safety and efficacy taking a back seat.

The FDA then took steps to cut Trump’s politics out of vaccine development. It refused to accelerate the Pfizer approval even though Trump desperately wanted to be able to campaign on approval of a vaccine. It set up an independent review panel to evaluate Pfizer’s data and recommend whether to issue an EUA. In short, it took strong steps to show the approval would be based on the science, not politics. And the wisdom of that was shown by Trump yesterday, who threatened to fire the head of the FDA if the EUA wasn’t issued yesterday rather than today as planned. Why? News cycle, I’d guess.

If you were following your own experts brought and paid for by the mainstream media then the vaccine couldn't possibly be ready before 2021. None of this was about vaccine safety for the self proclaimed scientific and apolitical mainstream media. It was only about finding a way to hurt President Trump and his supporters. That's all it has ever been about.

Following the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine through an emergency use authorization, it is important to look back at all the media outlets who insisted the world wouldn’t see a vaccine before the end of 2020.

President Donald Trump in the fall began saying a vaccine was coming soon, so media outlets rushed to claim he was lying, citing “experts.” NBC News even took the step to “fact check” Trump’s prediction, one of the numerous ways so-called fact checks have been weaponized against Trump.

“Fact check: Coronavirus vaccine could come this year, Trump says. Experts say he needs a ‘miracle’ to be right,” read NBC’s headline on May 15. The outlet decided to fact check Trump’s suggestion that a coronavirus vaccine could come by the end of year thanks to his administration’s expedited timeline for such a vaccine.

NBC then sought out experts to contradict Trump, such as Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Offit said a vaccine wouldn’t be ready until “the middle or end of next year.” Another expert, Dr. Walter Orenstein, associate director of the Emory Vaccine Center and a professor at Emory University, told the outlet it would take a “miracle” for the vaccine to come out in less than a year. Numerous other experts said something similar.

But they were all wrong.

On September 16, NPR pointed out that Trump, “contradicting the CDC,” said a COVID-19 vaccine could be ready by the end of 2020. The next day, another NPR article featured the transcript of one of its programs knocking Trump for suggesting the vaccine would be ready by the end of the year. The outlet used testimony from CDC Director Robert Redfield before a Senate panel that month, in which he said the vaccine would not be ready until the spring or summer of 2021.

CNBC on October 22 posted its version of the same article, with the headline: “President Trump says Covid-19 vaccine will be coming by the end of the year, despite contrary evidence.” The article featured footage from the presidential debate between Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden in which NBC News’ Kristen Welker noted Trump administration health experts saying a vaccine wouldn’t be ready until 2021 and asking Trump if his predictions were “realistic.”

It turns out, they were

Shortly after the 2020 election, Pfizer and Moderna announced their vaccines were shown to be highly effective against the coronavirus in stage three trials. As The Daily Wire reported on Friday, the FDA approved Pfizer’s vaccine through an emergency use authorization.

“Under the emergency authorization, high-priority Americans will begin receiving the first of two inoculations against COVID-19, possibly within hours, according to previous remarks made by Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla. The CDC expects Pfizer to have 25 million doses available this month,” The Daily Wire’s Eric Quintanar reported.

And he was lying then just as he lied constantly about every facet of Coronavirus, going back to the early days when he said it was nothing more than a Democrat hoax. Why, Ajax, would you need a vaccine for a hoax? He lied because he had no good reason to believe the vaccine would likely be ready by December. What he had was a political motive to make his base happy by having an invented reason to not wear a mask, and a hope something could be on the table before elections so that he could take credit.

Here is NPR's which seems pretty accurate.

Redfield said a vaccine might become available in November or December for first responders but not widely available until "the second or third quarter" of next year. He later testified it would take six to nine months after the Food and Drug Administration had authorized the vaccine before it could be distributed nationally.

Trump has repeatedly said that a vaccine would be ready in a much quicker time frame. "We're going to have a vaccine in a matter of weeks, it could be four weeks, it could be eight weeks," Trump told Fox News this week, adding that it "could be" before the election, and that "we'll start delivering it immediately upon getting it."

That's not to say the liberal media hasn't played politics during Coronavirus, I myself documented problems with the liberal media and CDC's position on masks during the first months of the virus on the old board. I could go find that link for you if you want, if you'd like an example of how to properly do research on the Internet.

Suffice it to say, to show Trump right, you'd have to link his from-the-hip insistences to either a credible authority who could actually have good reasons, or show his reasoning.
