The argument that this wouldn't have happened if Trump were still President is just retarded on so many levels. The fact is this invasion was planned for years while Trump was in office. Are we to believe that the build up of troops and weapons on the border was for show until Trump left, or that they'd still be sitting on the border for another four years if Trump were re-elected? Remember we know the Russians wanted Trump to get elected both times. Here are some relevant news stories during Trump's time in office:

Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak said this in an interview with the government's Uriadovy Kurier newspaper. "The continuation of aggressive actions in eastern Ukraine is quite anticipated. Moreover, there is a probability that the conflict will escalate into the Kremlin's full-scale aggression. This is the truth that destroys the illusion regarding Russia's refusal to occupy part of our territory and withdraw its troops in the near future. Near our border, it deployed 19 battalion tactical groups of the first and second echelons numbering more than 77,000 people. The groups consist of almost 1,000 tanks, 2,300 combat vehicles, over 1,100 artillery systems and about 400 multiple launch rocket systems," the minister said.- April 5, 2018

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia is building up its land forces and weapons along the border, Ukraine’s president said Saturday as German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned Russia not to block Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov. Tensions between Russia and Ukraine were still escalating a week after a naval clash in the Black Sea on Nov. 25 in which Russia fired on three Ukrainian naval ships then seized them and their 24 crew members. December 1, 2018

"Russia deployed nearly 90,000 troops, 1,100 tanks, 2,500 armored fighting vehicles, 1,600 artillery and missile systems, 340 combat aircraft and other weapons and equipment on the border with Ukraine." - March 3, 2020

It looks like the @#$%ers are trying to take Kyiv. I hate this.

Is it true that the U.S. urged President Zelensky to evacuate the city? Are we serious? Are we crazy? For what purpose should he evacuate the capital and give it up to the Russians?

Why are we telling him to give up his capital when he's trying to hold on to his damn country? What is wrong with us? Would Biden beat it the hell out of D.C. and give it up to the Russians?

What don't I understand about this??? Is there a strategy that I don't understand??? What are they supposed to do, give up the capital and do what? Go into negotiations with Russia...for WHAT???

I think that the main, and perhaps the only reason that The U.S. urged President Zelensky to evacuate the city is that Putin seems hell bent on not only ousting him and his government from power, but also executing them if they are captured. Putin has several times demonstrated his willingness to murder his political opponents and even journalists who criticize him.

If you remember the history of WWII, a number of the government leaders of German occupied countries in Europe were helped to escape to form "governments in exile" in England from which they were able to broadcast encouragement to their citizens and vital coded instructions to the underground units to help their efforts to sabotage German military efforts and capabilities.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I didn't know that about WWII, Gunnar. If I learned about it, I have forgotten. I will try to read up on it and find out more. I don't know what is wrong with me that I didn't know that.

Um, that's just a story, Ajax. How do you feel about the real Ukrainians resisting the real Russian invaders?
Inspired. These Ukranians died for it. The words of the Ukranian reporter on Laura Ingraham last nigjt were the samw, "This is our land."
And they were willing to fight even if they knew they were going to lose. Even just a chance at freedom was worth it.
I am glad to hear that this is your view. Thanks for making it clear.

... on Laura Ingraham last night ...
Ingraham had to explain to caller Trump that Russia, rather than America, made the invasion.

This video perfectly explains how Putin knows America won’t do anything meaningful to stop him. America is NATO!! But while we’re worried about wokeism and equity, super powers are laughing at us!

It's a bad idea to stand ground in Kyiv, a capital is just a building. WWPD?

If Russia were being invaded, would Putin be standing in front of St. Basil's Cathedral saying "come and get me?"

I think that Zelenskiy is the person best placed to decide what he needs to do for Ukraine.

But if I was in his place, I would tend to feel a little silly high-tailing it to a place of safety while simultaneously urging the civil population to fight to the death for the defence of their capital city (which they care about rather a lot). And large numbers of men of all ages are currently standing in line to get issued with arms so they can respond to that call.

I mean, how did the head of state running away work in Afghanistan? Not so well, I recall.

Jesus. Pussies. Remember what that trucker said when asked about losing his license, his bank account, his truck, his job, his clients and his freedom if he didn't suck it? He said, "I have lived a good life."

People, wasting away in paradise
Going backward, once in a while
Moving ahead, falling behind
What do you believe, what do you believe?
What do you believe is true
Nothing they say makes a difference this way
Nothing they say will do
They take all the trouble that you can afford
At least you won't have time to be bored
At least you won't have time to be bored
Oh the power and the passion
Oh the temper of the time
Oh the power and the passion
Sometimes you've got to take the hardest line
Sunburnt faces around, with skin so brown
Smiling zinc cream and crowds
Sundays the beach never a cloud
Breathing eucalypti, pushing panel vans
Stuff and munch junk food laughing at the truth
'Cause Gough was tough 'til he hit the rough
Uncle Sam and John were quite enough
Too much of sunshine too much of sky
It's enough to make you want to cry
Just enough to make you want to cry
Oh the power and the passion
Oh the temper of the time
Oh the power and the passion
Sometimes you've got to take the hardest line
Buildings, clothing the sky, in paradise
Sydney, nights are warm
Daytime telly, blue rinse dawn
Dad's so bad he lives in the pub
It's a underarms and football clubs
Flat chat, pine gap, in every home a big mac
And no one goes outback, that's that
You take what you get and get what you please
It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees
It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees

Oh the power and the passion
Oh the temper of the time
Oh the power and the passion
Sometimes you've got to take the hardest line
