There is some thinking that Trump will announce his candidacy for the Presidential election in order to escape a Department of Justice investigation since AG Merrick Garland has announced his unwillingness to prosecute any criminal candidates.

There has been some talk from Trump insiders that the blame will be shifted to Mark Meadows whom Trump does not know.
Eventually, he'll claim that he doesn't know himself.

I heard some commentary (binge watching youtube) where the person said he's not going to announce a run, he's stringing folks along as part of a grift of his base.

I am finding it increasingly hard to see that as anything but unreasonable timidity on Garland's part. It seems to me that if known or credibly suspected criminal is running for office, that is all the more reason to expedite indicting and trying the alleged culprit and either clearing or exonerating the suspect before they can assume office where they can do great harm or attempt to use the office to escape culpability. A truly honest and honorable candidate should suspend their candidacy until they can credibly refute and be cleared of the pending criminal charges.

Trump is not about the steak, he's about the sizzle. Whether or not he actually runs is not the point. If he runs, any civil or criminal charges against him will be painted as a political vendetta. Right now Trump is like an fighter pilot who hears a missile lock tone. It's time to do some evasive maneuvers while launching some flares and chaff.

Agreed. It's dumb as crap. Essentially, Garland is saying candidates are above the law. That is screwed up.

I should go murder Trump then run for office.

His hesitancy to press charges against Trump is probably mostly due to fear that hard right conservatives will accuse him doing it for purely partisan reasons and retaliate by inventing bogus charges for any and all Democrats running for office.

That's also a terrible reason not to do it. We should be able to rely on the law to actually sort out the criminals. If Trump's innocent, a criminal trial shouldn't matter; he'll be found innocent.

LOL... good luck with that.

The head of the politicized Secret Service is retiring and has a cushy job at an internet company lined up for himself. Oh, and he actively lied about deleting the Secret Service phone texts. What Trump touches he corrupts.

Are you watching all the hearings? I have watched every single one. I cannot wait for Thursday! Currently catching up on any new developments prior.
