Jersey,

Pirate stated:
People put their hands on others shoulders and their bodies were shaking. I was so scared.

Does that sound like the peace and Joy the Holy Ghost brings?

I'm not certain what went on there. I just did some googling on the church and can post that another time.

My best advice to pirate is don't return there.

Pirate,

Read the information on this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_Blessing

It connects to the Vineyard church that you went to.

As I suspected (and expressed in one of my posts to you) it is connected to "charismatic" doctrine. I knew from your description that it wasn't mainstream Christian.

Don't go back there, pirate. Stay away from it.

Gaz,

I think you're exactly right. At first I wasn't sure because I thought pirate's reaction was simply because it was different than her LDS church experience. You can google on vineyard churches and eventually come in contact with the Toronto Blessing. Not a good thing in my mind.

Good detective work Jersey.

I think anyone who has ever experienced the true Spirit of God can immediately tell a false spirit like that one.

Pirate knew it, but sometimes you need someone to point out what you already know.

Pirate, avoid places that make you uncomfortable. Matter of fact LEAVE places that make you uncomfortable, in the future. :)

Gaz, your view on "the spirit of god" is massively divergent from the mainstream western view of who/what "god" is.

John 14: 26
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15: 26
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Seems scriptures back me up here Merc. Peace, Joy , Comfort, intelligence. Did I miss something?

Renting space temporarilly in the Bible to cover your christian cred has been a sad tactic to Mormons for a while. So I will not cite you on that completely.

We have two issues here. One, the very different version of God Mormons have created and an equally silly but less modern god created by what we can call American Christianity. Both are equally silly but yours is more up to speed on the whole spiritualism/Kabbalistic masturbatory efforts outlined by an association with Masonry and a fetishistic application of alpha male sexual tactics.

I just stick with the God that presented himself to Adam.

Sorry if my use of scripture to refute your rantings disturbed you. Perhaps if you re-aquainted yourself with them we would be better able to converse with one another. Also it would help if you re-aquainted yourself with the Holy Ghost.

You get him back after you re-aquaint yourself with prayer.
