I take it this was a joke? Or one of those "you'll never believe this, but..." stories?
Which part do you take as a joke? That I'm a registered Democrat? That I voted for Obama in the primary? That I like Palin?
No, that's all true.
...but hardly any policy proposals. the actual issues? Incidental.
Now that is a joke.
Obama: "Change!" Constituency: "What are we changing to?" Obama: "To change itself, my friend. We're changing from non-change to change." Constituency: "But, what does that mean?" Obama: "Well, I'd be lying if I suggested that it's not going to involve some very serious change-related items. Beyond that, I'm stumped."

Higher taxes and the redistribution of wealth is a hallmark of the left's agenda, and Obama is as left as one goes.
We are not talking about Bush, however. We are talking about what has been the standard protocol of a democrat white house. Generally speaking, democrats like big government, Bureaucracies gone amuck, etc. Palin has a documented history of cutting wasteful spending.
She sold the taxpayers luxury jet on Ebay and put the money back into the government, for crying out loud!
If it were in other circumstances I'd like it. But I'm soo throughly disenchanted with the Reps [and I'm registered Rep.]...sigh. Can I move to Germany and live in gramps basement?
I don't think the basement is what you want. Lots of coal and soot.
But, there may be a room available. :)
It is nice to be away from the states, however, and see things from a different perspective.
Good luck over there, with either of them. :)

If I had paid my two bits for a sideshow ticket, I would have been sorely disappointed. I watched the MSNBC coverage. Perhaps the most telling crescendo of the evening came when the (partial?) crowd gave Palin a rousing ovation, yet Newt Gingrich et al. responded like lifeless corpses.
But as for me and my house, Barack Obama and Joe Biden merit our support.

I attended an evangelical church for two+ years at the urging of the associate pastors who lived across the street (nothing like a catchy riff and thumping subwoofer to sooth the soul). They remain dear friends to this day.
But I do not recall having ever seen firsthand the overt melding of extreme evangelical religiosity and politics that I've seen with Sarah Palin (see here and here). Mitt Romney (whom, believe it or not, I considered a viable presidential candidate) is an ideological kitten compared to Palin.
Oh the beauty of YouTube. Jon shows how Karl Rove and O'Reilly are both hypocritical over Palin. Rove disses a Democrat Candidate for being a Mayor of a city with several hundred thousend people and overlooking that the town that Palin ran had 9000. O'Reilly attacks those who comment about the teen pregnancy of Palin's daughter while attacking Britney Spears sister and calling HER parents irresponsible. Dick Morris is like an attack dog on Hilary and yet Hannity is screaming leave Palin alone despicable media.
Talking about Pastors (Wright and Hagee) Palin might have Pastor problem to. The Huffington Post reports that Palin was baptized at and long attended the Wasilla Assembly of God. The church’s pastor is a firm believer in the approaching end times and suggests that criticism of President Bush for his handling of Katrina was, “not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. “

1) See my comments on the voting issue in the 2004 senatorial debates 2) The tire pressure stupidity 3) His recent comment that China's infrastructure is vastly superior to the US's.
When he wings it, he makes lots of stupid ignorant comments.
Well, if Palin attending an Evangelical Church that likes to play music, is the best thing our atheists friends have for belittling her, then I think the democrats are in serious trouble (Incidentally, Palin stopped attending that Church in the video, in 2002).
Especially when one considers Obama's duplicity on his shared beliefs with his own pastor. That whacko circus freak who was stomping all over the stage getting the race-baiters riled up, saying God damns America, etc. This is the kind of radical ideology that has inspired Obama throughout his life.
From what I can see on the secular web, the argument against Palin will go something like this:
1. Palin believes in God. 2. Palin believes we are in the "end times." 3. Palin might launch nuclear weapons because she thinks God told her to.
This is similar to JAK's ridiculous arguments about how George Bush attacked Iraq because of his Evangelical background. The reason we attacked Iraq was because Bill Clinton had already let that ship sail out of port before leaving office. Bush simply took over at crunch time.
Last night on Larry King it was hilarious watching three democrat strategists trying to come up with something against Palin. She seems to be bullet proof at this point. One of them said she lied about rejecting congress' aid in Alaska and then when a caller began to correct him, Larry King kept cutting him off and told him to get to the question. Priceless.
A second one was stumbling over her own words trying to attack her for lack of experience and the third was making a big deal of the fact that her kid was pregnant out of wedlock and how it shows she doesn't walk her talk. And now it seems the best stuff out there on the web is coming from the far atheist left who thinks religious bigotry is going to score them some points... Biden and Obama wouldn't dare use any of this in the debates anyway. They need to start praying for a miracle here. Maybe they can start investigating the firing of her former brother-in-law. In which case, they will come across as really desperate.
As I said, the democrats are in serious trouble.

I realize it can be tempting to keep perpetuating this stereotype of Barack Obama, but because I have been following the guy since 2004, read his books, listened to or read the majority of his campaign speeches, especially his most recent at the DNC, I can say this characterization is flatly false. I have no illusions about Obama being able to deliver all that he says he wants to, don't get me wrong, and I don't fall lock-step behind him, either. But as a registered Independent [thought I'd throw the credentials in there, you guys seem to like that ;)] I do like his approach and underlying mentality, which is a hell of a lot more substantive than what the talking heads are saying. To those who say "Obama doesn't give substance" my advice is, then open your eyes and ears and go look into it because it's all there. I can stand people criticizing various positions or ideas, but to claim he has none is flatly false. One of the funniest things I've seen conservative talking heads do is shift from "Obama has nothing!" to criticizing specific points of that alleged "nothing." Don't bring this garbage to the table. It is meaningless.

I don't think they are. I think you'll be very surprised.
