But the report concluded the firing was nevertheless not inappropriate, saying other, valid reasons existed to dismiss Mr. Monegan. He and Mrs. Palin had clashed over budgetary issues and the report concluded she had legitimately lost faith in his performance.

Re: Palin and Troopergate
"Walt Monegan´s dismissal was a result of his insubordination and budgetary clashes with Governor Palin and her administration," the report said. "Trooper Wooten is a separate issue."
Alaska lawmakers concluded Mr. Monegan's failure to fire Mr. Wooten was a factor in his dismissal, which prompted Mr. Monegan to say Friday that "it sounds like they validated my beliefs and opinions," citing the report as evidence that "I'm not totally out in left field."
But the report concluded the firing was nevertheless not inappropriate, saying other, valid reasons existed to dismiss Mr. Monegan. He and Mrs. Palin had clashed over budgetary issues and the report concluded she had legitimately lost faith in his performance.
Two different issues were at play here, eh? Firing for not firing the ex-brother-in-law, and it being secondarily justified because of a clash on budget issues, perhaps due to maverickyness.

In fairness, which politician other than the President himself does have true, honest-to-goodness foreign policy experience?
In My Opinion: U.S. Senator John McCain Pretty Much has this experience.

Well, "foreign policy experience" is a misnomer. I think what we want to be looking for is people who have experience dealing with people from other cultures around the world, negotiation experience, and an attitude that a willingness to talk things through is a good thing (this idea that giving other countries the silent treatment in hopes that the problem will correct itself is unimaginably stupid. I can't believe people actually buy into it. It's how grade school children deal with their social problems. Amazing!)
As I've mentioned before, nobody goes into office with direct experience. It's transferable skills that really matter.
As far as Palin goes, it's worrisome that she thinks being close to another country actually counts as a transferable skill, and if she doesn't think that, it's even more worrisome that she thinks she can BS and fool people into believing it.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

I was watching TV as the news broke. I flipped through the three major cable news networks to gauge the different reactions. On Fox, Dick Morris was making the argument as I have relayed it. If I had a transcript, I'd post it. If they were making your variation of the argument Kevin, I would have posted that instead. I find it equally humorous. I crosslinked your post on another board just so people could stare in disbelief.

You're still not telling the truth about what FOX said EA. Fox never said Palin "abused her power." None of the republican pundits said that. You said that. You said it to create a straw man. She didn't abuse her power.
What they said was that she had every right to defend her family. She did nothing wrong. The argument put forth but the democratic legislative panel is hokey at best. It relies too much on begged questions that they pretend to know the answers to as if by divine omniscience.
Oh yea, and they also refused to consider a written statement by Todd Palin that pretty much shattered their argument that Sarah Palin never tried to stop her husband.
Their entire beef was that she didn't, but the fact is she did, so how did she "abuse her power"? They didn't want to consider his statement. Gee, how convenient. This had agenda driven written all over it.

I don't know what the tell you. I saw exactly what I reported. I'll let our respective records on reporting the truth speak for themselves.
