Socialized medicine works poorly (the Brits are a classic example).

I would ask if he would explain why health care in Britain is better and much cheaper then in the US, but I noticed he avoids these questions like he has for my question about temperature modifications in another thread.

The ACA says that if a doctor doesn't use electronic records in a "meaningful" way, he will receive lower reimbursement rates for Medicaid and Medicare claims. I think it's a good thing for the government to promote best-of-class medical practices for the doctors who choose to accept payments from the government. If a doctor doesn't want to implement a best-of-class record system, he isn't required to accept payments from the government.

Using electronic medical records in a meaningful way means that he is required to use electronic data in a way that achieves the following objectives:

◦Improve quality, safety, efficiency, and reduce health disparities
◦Engage patients and family
◦Improve care coordination, and population and public health
◦Maintain privacy and security of patient health information

It sounds like your doctor is failing to meet these objectives. That isn't the ACA's fault--it's the fault of your doctor's and/or his practice.

Seriously. In terms of promoting evidence-based medicine and efficient healthcare, can you see any advantages of collecting medical data electronically? I'd expect a P&C actuary to be in favor of electronic medical records.

Typical fodder for the outrage machine on the Right, all of which is based on speculation about what could be. We get a lot of maybe, perhaps, etc when all is said and done. But you really have to have a hate on for the ACA to come up with such ridiculous crap, psychoanalyzing your own doctor, suggesting that "perhaps" he missed something because he had the audacity to take notes!

What a crock of crap.

This is like saying a therapist may have misdiagnosed a schizophrenic or sociopath because of taking notes. What kind of idiot world do we live in when note taking is frowned upon? Oh, because it is a common sense measure put forth by that black guy we're all supposed to demonize. I forgot.

Their are good things about EMR. But they do slow me down and that drives up the cost. Often times I find myself not even looking at the patient because you're trying to get the record filled out. If I had a scribe it might be different, but that's usually cost prohibitive for a general practitioner.

Well, it is about US, but ... in Hungary only :
Every private and district doctors have an assistant. Females, at least I've never met with others. In private cases, she is mostly the wife.

Every consulting room has a computer with dual keyboard and display. I say my name - in district offices they know prompt their patients, if one appears more than two or three case.

And we are whining about destroyed health care --- it is more about hospitals. They are all indebted.

OK, last year we met a good veterinary who did every administration himself. The dogs are more tolerant than we, humans.

From other countries, I have sporadic information; two from Germany and one from Austria in the last two decades. They were the same.

Oh I have no problem with credibility. You're the one hiding behind a pseudonym pretending to be something more than a racist bigot who actually contributes to society in a meaningful way.
