Scaremongering seems to be part of the playbook of the Trump supporters. What does Soros have to do with the caravan? Why would Soros be supporting the caravan.

Soros is believed to be involved in the caravan because it is known that he was for-sure involved in previous caravans like the one earlier this year in the spring. Why wouldn't he be involved is a better question to ask if you follow this stuff? Because this is what he does. Conservatives are "obsessed" with Soros because he is, by a large margin, the most prolific financier of left wing activism in the USA. And unlike other donors, who act in more conventional ways like donating to some pols campaign or PAC, he organizes and funds agitations. He finances what some consider thuggery. He is a calculating dude, very smart. He's not a "follower" of whatever politician talked into donating at the ten thousand dollar a plate dinner, he sees himself as someone who's moving chess pieces around. He has big picture goals and funds operations to try to work the environment in a direction that will reach those goals. Instead of wasting money that some idiot pol will spend on TV ads and persuade nobody, he will hire some broke college kids to go chain themselves to a tree and make a bunch of noise. Soros is often despised by democrats as much as he is republicans for this same reason. He will do things that could be profoundly effective, but not in a helpful way. Like Kavanaugh. That woman who accosted Jeff Flake in the elevator. She worked for an org and ultimately was being paid by Soros. I'm not saying Soros ordered her to hunt Flake down. That's silly. But Soros did organize the group that then decided to go "demonstrate" and fill the building with screaming women. Which managed to get lucky and corner Flake in an elevator at one point.

Soros gets so much attention from today's conservatives because the White Nationalists portray him as part of a Jewish Conspiracy to, as they say, commit white genocide. They generate tons of false conspiracy theories about him. Take the woman in the elevator. Dog misrepresents the actual nature of Soros's involvement by claiming the woman "ultimately was being paid by Soros." And by claiming that Soros "organized the group." Dog is repeating anti-semitic propaganda that gets polished up a little and then transmitted to guys like Dog through Breitbart and other alt-right sites. Now, I don't think Dog is anti-semitic. But he spreads their crap around because as long as it makes the other team look bad, that's good enough for him.

ETA: I dove into the right wing sites to look for the source of Dog's fer sher claim about Soros's involvement in past caravans. It looks like this: there are several non-profits that provide legal services to immigrants. They are funded by a number of different charitable organizations, including Soros's. These organizations provide legal services to caravan members who want to make asylum claims. One of the leaders of the organization that sponsored past caravans also volunteers for one of these organizations. Thus, Soros is the shadowy puppet master orchestrating the caravans.
