Religiously inspired violence is not synonymous with leftwing terrorism. Politically speaking, it's usually right wing, and was in the case of the Ft. Hood shooter. Just because you think there is a holy war on between Christianity and Islam doesn't make the fact people who choose differently framed conservative causes than you do to justify their violent acts aren't doing from the right side of the political spectrum.
Why was Obama so intent on classifying this as workplace violence rather than as a terorrist act?
Obama personally stopped patriotic Americans from being able to call it an act of terrorism? Hmm.
Why were we not even allowed to call it a radical Islamic terrorist attack?
Because this idea that there is a holy war against Islam isn't any more accurate than radical Christian terrorists were behind the shooting in Charleston. We talk about those attacks differently, too. Get your panties bundled up over that one? Didn't think so.

I actually thought, OK, I probably missed a few examples of Left wing murderers killing people simply because they're conservative, or a whacko claiming he was inspired by something someone on CNN said. I assumed maybe at least a few of them MUST exist and I just wasn't paying any attention at the time. But the more I look, the more I realize there are really no parallel examples.
But yeah, the Left is the side that spawns true violence, right?
Today, in the US, I think that’s correct. Currently there is a culture of violence in the Trump right that has no counterpart on the left. It emanates from Trump himself and is amplified by Fox and other right wing media. It encourages what used to be the extremes — militias and neo nazi groups — to become more active and aggressive.
But that can change. The revolutionary left is still around, though mostly quiet.

I found that bit of the JRE podcast clipped out on YouTube. I think it's worth watching for contextualizing what ajax is saying and why it really does look like a message meant to justify retaliatory violence.
This isn't a historical debate. It's propaganda being crafted and put out. It should be refuted and not compromised with because of what it is leading towards.

Maybe because he couldn't bear the thought of offending Valerie Jarrett? It was Texas so the people he killed were probably Republicans anyway. The left clearly sympathizes with violent and radical Islamic terrorism.
BS, Ajax. Have you looked at what the army regulations required in order for the incident to qualify as international terrorism? The army concluded it didn’t qualify as terrorism. Right wing media politicized what was a non-political decision. No person on the left sympathized with this mass murder. That’s one of the lies you tell yourself to justify your hatred of your fellow Americans.

Antifa emerged over the past few years. They're organized, determined, and stupid. Yet they've killed no one.

Anti-fascists aren’t the revolutionary left. They are also on the fringe. They target what they identify as fascist threats. I see little support for them on the left. But that could also change if the government tries to restrict freedom of speech, freedom of the press, etc.

And yet no one can come up with the original source for this quotation and Ayers said he doesn't remember saying anything like this, and if he did, it was a joke.
You'd think someone determined to "kill all rich people" would have at least managed to kill one or two since 1970 when he allegedly said this.

I agree. The right is crafting a narrative: the left has gotten so extreme that only violence can restore the country.

Ok, so I guess I just don't know what you mean by a potentially violent Revolutionary Left. It doesn't seem to exist, at least not in this country.

Marxists and a few other groups. They’re pretty quiet because there is no general support for a revolution to overthrow the US government. You can find them hanging around protest marches: just look for the hammer and sickle. They pass out literature. If they thought that labor in the us was willing to overthrow the government, they’d be more visible.
