If this is successful, and Canada seizes donations made to the truckers, the government will succeed in destroying their democracy. If the people can't protest, and if the people can't support each other, and if the people have no say in government, there is no democracy.
You want an insurrection, liberals? You are getting one. Just sit still and say and do nothing and you will get your insurrection you have been dreaming about.

Imagine the outcry if BLM was not allowed to protest? The irony, oh the irony. It ain't funny.
It's an odd insurrection. It started out purportedly being about Canadian vaccination requirements for cross-border truckers to re-enter the U.S., except that the requirement doesn't matter because the U.S. requires vaccination to enter the U.S. Ninety percent of Canadian truckers are vaccinated. The truckers union disclaimed any connection with the protests. A number of Facebook pages promoting the protest with hundreds of thousands of followers were all traced to the Facebook account of one woman in Missouri, who reported her account as having been hacked. Large amounts of money, much of it from the U.S., is flowing into accounts that say they exist to support the truckers, but it's not clear what is being done with the money. Many of the drivers arrested did not hold the kind of licenses required to drive the trucks. Now similar "protests" are being promoted in the U.S. and internationally.
There are lots of possible explanations, including that that this is simply a grass roots protests that lots of people are willing to donate to. It could be an astroturfed movement. It could be money laundering. It could be something else. To figure it out requires following the money. I hope someone is.
Thank you Res. These are all valid points. This is an interesting angle to consider and talk about.
I do not see the truckers and their protest as an insurrection at all. They are not forming a government or forming a replacement. They are not even protesting the organization of the government. They are protesting the mandates. They are not protesting vaccines and they are not anti-vax, as you pointed out. They are protesting the mandates, and they want the mandates lifted.
I agree with you - I think. The protest, were it to be called an insurrection, would be an odd one indeed.
Admittedly then... my use of
insurrection is equally odd. But hear me out here if'n you wanna.
I was using insurrection to describe the government's intent (albeit alleged) to seize the funds that were donated to the truckers. The funds have been deemed for the truckers to use for legal representation. Again, we have not followed the money, and who really knows where the money goes? If the government seizes the funds as means of preventing legal representation, and blocks protests as a means of removing representation and a voice of these small business owners and drivers, they will have, IN MY OPINION, effectively committed an insurrection and converted the government to a non-representative sovereignty that rule by mandate without representation of the so-called
uneducated rubes.
