Wallaby, are you claiming that to teach people about injustice that exists and has been done in the past makes them give up on living or give up their personal responsibility? That is just something I am unable to believe. People are not that weak minded. People want to be strong and responsible. People want the results of work. Well not everyone all the time. Some like to stay drunk and will find excuses to do so.

It is true that there exist extremist liberals that would be like a cult. There was a bit posted about a fellow who had been recruited by a Trotskyite group in London. I can believe such a group exists. I have no idea how you would contact such an obscure little faction. I am old enough to remember the big splash made by the Symbionese liberation army. They definately were a dangerous left wing cult. All ten or so of them.

Perhaps I can present my own thought. I am a long time lefty.
I am inclined to think there is a danger that sex change is a fad some people might enter into rashly. People can be frustrated with who they are. I prefer to think it is a good thing to respect that people of a given physical gender may have a range of emotional and mental qualities not always associated with that gender. Why try and change the physical instead make the most of ones individual makeup.

But I am not the one struggling with the issue. I cannot say what somebody else should do with themselves. The liberal in me steps in a says I will respect the decision made by those people. If they decide to change their physical that is their choice and I will respect it. I wish them well.

I appreciate the effort you put into trying to find some kind of coherent argument in WL’s posts. Their reasoning is so atrocious that one could spend pages deconstructing it.

For example, by WL’s logic, Mormonism is based on Satan. Liberals may believe that oppression is a real thing and may explain some of the things we observe in the world. Mormons believe that Satan is a real thing and explains some things we observe in the world. But that doesn’t mean that Mormonism is based on Satan. The reasoning is absurd on its face.

There are always people, regardless of political affiliation, who will argue some simple reductive theory that they claim explains everything — a kind of unified theory of everything. So, one will certainly encounter people who try to explain everything in terms of oppression. Just as you will certainly encounter people who try to explain everything in terms of God’s will. To the extent liberals see oppression as important, it’s because oppression is antithetical to individual autonomy. In fact, it would be more accurate to describe liberalism as being based on individual autonomy.

And that’s just the first sentence.
