High desert climate here,7600ft if that helps.

Mid seventies to mid eighties during the day. A few days higher.

Fifties at night with cool mountain air. ;)

Swamp cooler to help with hotter days. Windows open at night.

In keeping with what we're used to having this time of year here. Thankfully, far less hail than usual and a bit of rain!
That sounds lovely

It ain't bad! The cool air at night is divine! Air quality has been getting a little sucky at night but not crazy. Just got an air purifier and seems to be a good benefit even with the window open a bit. (Plus no dust, ha!!)

Current:

71* drop down to low 50's overnight
42% humidity
AQI is 66- Moderate

Thunderstorms starting at 9 pm

Phoenix is just going to be hot. What's getting us this year isn't the daytime highs but that it isn't cooling down as much at night. We've had multiple days where it didn't drop below 90 at night. That's more scary than when our daytime highs hit in the high 110s or approach 120.
My daughter lives in Phoenix. They have been packing their car seat with ice so their two-year-old won't be burned with they strap him in.

We have been in somewhat of a heat wave where I live in the middle of the Sacramento Valley, about 45 miles or so north of Sacramento, with a record number of days in a row above 100 degrees F. On Thursday, July 11, our AC quit on us. We scrambled to find someone who could come quickly to relieve our suffering, but the first few people we called were so booked up, they couldn't come before the following Wednesday. My brother, who lives nearby, suggested I call his friend, who was in the Bishopric of the local LDS ward he belongs to, and a professional HVAC specialist. We called the guy and left a desperate message for him, which he returned within the hour and promised to come early Saturday Morning.

My brother's son also happens to live nearby, and he generously offered to let my family and I stay in his house until our AC was fixed, as he was going to be gone on vacation over the weekend. What a good nephew!

We fully expected to have to spend at least 2 nights as our nephew's houseguests, which was a relief, as all-time record temperature was predicted for Friday (which turned out to be true. We had a record high temperature for that date: 113 degrees F.). However, at about 1:00 pm on Friday, the HVAC guy called us and said he just finished a job he was on earlier than expected and said he could be there for us within the hour. Due to being caught in traffic jam, however, it was more like 2 hours. He immediately climbed up on our roof, where our AC unit is located, and in 113 degrees heat spent more than an hour diagnosing and fixing the problem. We cleaned out our very dirty filters in our house, while he replaced a burned out starter capacitor and a burned out circuit breaker, and got rid of a couple of wasp nests that had taken up residence inside the AC housing. The AC started right up and worked for about 45 minutes or so, and then quit. We called him again, and he promised to come right back, as he was only a few minutes away. He went right back on the roof, and discovered that the compressor had stopped, due to overheating because the coils were so dirty. He applied a cleaning solution to them and washed out the mess with a hose, until the water coming out changed from looking like wet coffee grounds to clear water. He refused to add to our bill due to the second repair call and left us. Our AC has been working splendidly ever since!

Though I no longer believe in the LDS truth claims, I certainly believe in Brother Hicks! We met him again on Sunday, when I took my wife and daughter to church, and he greeted us warmly, with hugs, and asked if our AC was still working properly. I told him I had only one complaint: he didn't leave us anything to complain about!

ETA: We learned the importance of having our AC serviced and checked more often than we had been doing. We will also, in the near future (when HVAC specialists are past their busiest season) replace our 22-year-old HVAC system with a newer, more efficient unit.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Fr, since we moved to and left Utah we have had service plans with HVAC and plumbing companies; those are two systems I always ensure I put money into. Where I live now we get occasional blackouts when a tree or something falls on a line somewhere in the grid so I’m considering a generator.

Anyone have a generator? Are they a pain in the ass to maintain?

Yes, we have a back up generator--gas. I can find out details with regard to to maintenance. It's not whole house. We use it in winter when the power goes down in a blizzard. So we can power up whatever rooms (or water heater) we want. Also, I have a professional HVAC guy on site 24/7. :-)

I love the high desert. I spent half of my mission there.

We have a propane-fueled generator, and the only problem we've had occurred after a subcontractor moved it and messed up the wiring that kept the battery charged and caused it to automatically start during outages. Aside from that, maintenance has been a breeze if only because I'm really good at not thinking about the damn thing until I need it.

Nice! I bought mine from a John Deere dealership, 'cause that's how we roll out here in Hooterville.
