Nationwide Protest April 5, 2025 Hands Off

I attended and participated in the "hands off" protest nearest to me. I had a good time and got to talk with a bunch of interesting people. We were massed at a park right at the intersection of two of the major highways going through the middle of downtown. I was gratified to see that there was no violence, and despite the fact that my Northern California community is conservative and mostly Trump voters, the majority of the people driving by were honking and smiling in approval and giving us thumbs up. This was very good to see! There were only one or two that I noticed who expressed disapproval and shouted obscenities at us. One local police car drove by to check things out, and even he smiled and waved in approval!

Right on, Gunnar! You don't know HOW MUCH I wanted to go to the protest here. I knew it would take me away from home for over 3 hours and I just can't manage that right now healthwise. I think there are going to be more so I'm hoping I can go to one! Picture that in your mind...The Boy asking me where I'm going and I say "I'm taking it to the streets!"

I'm surprised anyone would swear at you or disapprove! People with no brains I suppose. Rome is burning and people are checked out? Cool that the officer smiled and waved! I love thinking about that so much!

p.s. I was trying to think of ways I could do my part in opposition. Was praying about this last night and it came to me...I can write. If I feel inspired, I can do a good job of writing to our elected officials here in CO. I'm going to go through Cory Booker's speech for inspiration and today I listened to Dr. King's Dream Speech for inspiration as well. Okay I'm going to say it, I was asking "Lord what can I do to help?" and it was like a voice or thought in my head saying "Jersey, you have your words. You can write."

The best thing about these protests is knowing not every American is a damned moron, just the Trump voters.

Sadly, it won't influence Trump at all. He's too stupid to take a hint, and too senile to understand why he should. And his voters will always be morons, so while the sentiment is nice, nothing will change until Trump damned dies. The sooner, the better.

What if the goal isn't to influence him?

I think most of us know he won't admit he was wrong. Hell, he ran away to a golf tourney to get out of Dodge and avoid accountability...spit right in the face of grieving families of deceased military members upon the arrival of their remains, the cowardly pig.

What if the goal is to intimidate the crap out of Congress and remove him from office?

Nonsense! From what I have seen of these demonstrations, including the one in which I participated, the vast majority of these rallies are not focused mainly on establishing socialism. The grievances and injustices they are protesting are very real and need to be loudly and effectively opposed. Besides that, even if what you are implying were true, democratic socialism as described and advocated by sensible people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are vastly superior to and less evil than Fascism, as essentially described in the 2025 project that Trump, Musk and their cronies are trying to push on us! Unless you really mean brutal, despotic Communism like in the former Soviet Union, it is undoubtedly true that even "socialism beats fascism!"

I ask you again, why are you so terrified by progressives and, seemingly, the very idea of progress! You have repeatedly demonstrated that you haven't the foggiest notion of the real, original meaning and intent of "woke" and "DEI!" Anti-wokeism and adamant objection to DEI are merely euphemistic terms for hateful bigotry!

Allowing minorities to have real equal opportunity and liberties under the law is NOT equivalent to racial discrimination against Whites or White genocide as many MAGA conservatives often seem to be implying, and sometimes even explicitly claiming!

Melania Trump Reschedules White House Tradition Due to Protests

First lady Melania Trump’s office is rescheduling Saturday’s White House spring garden tours over concerns about nationwide protests. More than 1,100 “Hands Off!” rallies are being held across the country to protest President Donald Trump’s political, economic, health, and social policies. The movement, which also takes aim at Elon Musk’s DOGE and its gutting of the federal government, is expected to be the largest single-day protest since Trump took office in January. The Washington, D.C., event is taking place at the Washington Monument about a mile from the White House. But out of an “abundance of caution,” the first lady’s office announced it is canceling Saturday’s garden tours. The annual event is free and open to the public but requires tickets. Saturday ticket holders should come anytime on Sunday instead, while Sunday ticket holders should come at the regular time listed on their tickets, the White House said.

Is it no longer OK in the USA to attempt to persuade one's fellow-citizens to consider adopting a non-illegal political view? That does not seem very 'First Amendment' to me, but what do I know?
