The head of the politicized Secret Service is retiring and has a cushy job at an internet company lined up for himself. Oh, and he actively lied about deleting the Secret Service phone texts. What Trump touches he corrupts.
i think there is an issue with the Secret Service that warrants a thorough criminal investigation: were there members of the Secret Service that conspired to prevent Pence from counting the votes on January 6. Included in that should be whether members of the Secret Service engaged in a coverup of events that occurred prior to and on January 6. I'd prefer it be done by the Justice Department (Secret Service is part of DHS, not the DOJ). Attempted election interference with the election process by the Secret Service would be a serious institutional breakdown.

Any attempt to interfere with an election process is an institutional breakdown, including the attempts that you approve.

Surely the “lock her up” crowd, and the “but her emails” crowd are going to go ballistic over this, right? Otherwise it sure would seem they’re just hypocrites who didn’t actually give a crap about Hillary’s email server. I’m sure we’ll see the Right-wing outrage any minute now …

eta: Speaking of the “lock her up” crowd, two of them will be serving lengthy sentences:

… both men crowd-surfed their way on top of the mob to the mouth of the west terrace tunnel leading into the building. There, they were caught on camera, firing chemical sprays toward police — in particular an officer identified in court documents as M.A.

Texts and emails obtained by the FBI show Mault and Mattice had planned the violence for days, including an exchange of tips on what protective clothes to wear and what weapons to bring.
For when your friends on the Right insist it wasn’t a planned event.

Absolutely not. Hypocrisy is a far more important tool in their toolbox than consistency (well, to them). Somehow, they'll pretend what the SS did was justified. (I'm not sure how; it's takes an addled mind to make that jump).

They never gave a damn about the emails. It was just code for "we don't want Hillary."

So the Jan 6th Committee hearing begins soon. I'm waiting on PBS to start streaming it. My understanding is that this is the LAST scheduled hearing for the public. Unless they schedule another one, I think after this we'll want to be following what the DOJ is doing re: indictments.

I think the deal on this one is going to be akin to the phrase Nero fiddled while Rome burned, because in this case Nero/DJT knew what he wanted to achieve so he simply sat back to watch it happen and enjoyed the fruits of his labors. But we'll see.

ETA: Apparently hasn't begun yet. I must've gotten the time wrong.

Pence's Secret Service Security Detail thought that, without the resources of the Capitol Police, that they might be overwhelmed. They were in fear of their lives. Testimony indicated that some were calling loved ones at home.

I just can't help think of all the Secret Service Messages that we will never see.

Yeah! I laughed out loud when I saw that too! I wonder if he will ever be able to live down the humiliation of that!

Just finished seeing the closing remarks. It was an awesome 2 & 1/4 hours. Liz Cheney's remarks were inspiring!
