Speaking of the Chinese supplying Russia -- it's been suggested that the 40-mile long convoy is riding on tires made in China. Now think about that for a moment.

Aside from that:

Scary as it is that a 40-mile long column of trucks is even possible for an enemy to produce, imagine the maintenance program required to keep so many vehicles in good working order. Rotting tires are suggested to be a problem here. Wonder what the cost is to outfit 40 miles worth of vehicles with quality tires.

On top of that is so many tanks and heavy vehicles driving over roads not meant for it.

That Twitter link also mentions the problem of maintenance programs under authoritarian leadership. Leaders, like Trump, don't like to hear bad news.

Possibly a cozy deal, for Putin and his friends in the PRC. ; )

A Jersey Boy joins the fight and tells you why. Damn I love the boys from Jersey. Go kick some ass, buddy!

Listen to his answer when she asks him if there was a moment when he decided to go over. THAT'S full on Jersey right there!

Listen to the end and hear Marine combat veteran Dennis Diaz speak it from the heart!

Kewl. Hopefully they also used cheap Chinese product in other critical parts of their great machines.

Similar to goods hosted by the big box home improvement stores that come from China - holographic in nature. Home D. has even figured out how to add Panda crap to the mix in their carpenter pencils. They last about half as long as the real ones.

“Build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across.” Sun Tzu (The Art of War)

Perhaps this is the key to ending this tragedy before we wind up in a nuclear war. In many ways, things are not going nearly as well as Putin expected. The more Putin feels he is backed into a corner of his own making that he can't gracefully extricate himself from, the more he may spitefully start using nuclear weapons. He controls the world's largest stockpile of nuclear weapons. Can we or should we create a ramp for him to back away from his misadventure that will allow him to retain enough dignity and self-respect that he won't try to destroy civilization out of desperation, humiliation and spite for not having fully achieved his aims?

Has anyone considered the (admittedly farfetched) possibility he might actually consider surrendering because of the historical fact that no nation on earth has ever dealt as generously with its defeated enemies as has the USA?

I predict some long term partition of Ukraine. East and West Ukraine will be the outcome. East Ukraine will have a Putin-backed puppet regime and provide a land bridge to the Crimea from Russia. West Ukraine will be in NATO and the EU.

No, because he's fighting against Ukraine, no the USA.

No, because he's fighting against Ukraine, no the USA.
True, but what if he counted on the USA eventually being drawn into more direct military involvement? Nevertheless, I already admitted that this is an extremely far-fetched scenario, and don't really think it is any more likely than you do.

That would be more than bad enough, but I fear that may be the best we can hope for. Even that would leave him being regarded a pariah by most of the world, and both Russia and Ukraine would wind up being worse off than they were before the invasion. It was a bone-headed move on Putin's part! I hope the ire of his own people will be sufficiently aroused to get him expelled permanently from office. Better yet, I hope he is eventually brought to trial and convicted for war crimes. He certainly deserves that, but if he comes to realize there is a significant probability of that outcome, that would probably be enough to motivate him to risk starting a nuclear, worldwide conflagration, even if he knows that he himself may not survive it.

By what route do you see that taking place? Part of negotiations with Russia?

Poland is giving fighter jets to the Ukrainians and in turn, we are going to backfill Poland with replacements. Everything I am reading and hearing says this is going to be a complete game changer for this war.

I think this war can be ended.
