Jersey Girl, not to derail, but have you ever tried batik? I have no idea what it’s all about; I just know that I’ve run across examples of batik paintings that I’d snap up in a second if I was always carrying wads of cash with me (or had the space to hang them …).

There are huge variations in the style, but I’m a fan of the more subtle color approaches, for landscapes.

Here. Here you go. Let's do this. It doesn't make me sick. I can do this all day long. People pay money for this.

Altered Composition Book Journals: I just wanted to say that where you see words or images like ink drops or leaves or sketches on the paper those are often transfers I layer on to the paper and even layer over each other. It creates kind of an illusion. The edges of the paper and edges of the white pages are shaded to look vintage. I think most of it is self explanatory. It's paper crafting. Some of the paper I embossed with a little manual machine. I didn't do anything fancy with the red truck ones I made because the farmhouse people seem to like things simple and traditional so I just tucked in paper for making holiday shopping lists. They're books. You write in them. :)

Oh no, I've never done Batik. That's a resist isn't it? I don't know how it's done. I've done Adinkra prints but that's just transfer prints and I'm sure I didn't do it the way they're done in Africa. Just on cloth with handmade blocks.

I’m guessing Salvia Farinacea for the purple ones ..

ETA: just saw your comment, Jersey Girl. Lupine, of course! I will now flog myself with a garden book.
 Yep, just plain old Lupines. We used to have SO many varieties of wildflowers on our property. It was so beautiful here! Then the drought set in and now it's next to nothing. For some reason, the Lupines survive.

Shoot. I can rattle off a list of what we had and get pretty close.

Butter n' Eggs
Black Eyed Susans
Globe Flower
Harebells
Columbine
Indian Paint Brush
Wild Geraniums
Wild Roses
(I'm mentally walking the property as it used to be)
Dangling Onions
Wild Irises
Pasque Flower (These are the first sign of Spring. They grow in one spot. This year we had ONE.)

I know I missed some. All we have now are random Lupine and the occasional Harebell. So sad about that!

More sales stuff...

Triple Layer Bookmarks. Glued, punched, sanded, shaded, eyelets installed, and tied. The pretty florals are from Poland. My gosh you could frame the paper all by itself. Such a pleasure to work with! The maple leaf ones have book page strips from Anne of Green Gables on the back. We love her. :)

That's how bad my painting is. I had a photograph of real live Lupines to go off of and they still don't look like flippin' Lupines!

Thanks guys for the positive comments on the painting. You could've easily crushed me like a bug. I'm not joking either.

You wanna know something? My wife and I just got done talking about how we’re going to sow lupines this next year. And this is thanks to you posting your pictures. Like, we literally just got done talking about our strategy for successfully growing them next year (I’ve never got them to grow and I gave up). So, when we see lupines in our yard next Spring I’ll think about Jersey Girl over in Colorado trying her hand at art.
