Democracy doesn't mean ensuring Democrat rule even when they are a minority opinion.
CFR on when the ‘minority opinion’ occurred, given that the Republican presidential candidate has lost the popular vote during the last four elections.
This is the weirdest thing about the right these days. They think their policies are popular. They think more people like Trump than despise him. They think being homophobic, xenophobic, and myopically selfish (Christian) are American values.
Most of them must have a very small circle of acquaintances to think such nonsense. I haven't actually met anyone who loves Trump. Every Trump voter I've talked to said they did it because "Hillary's emails" or some other dumb excuse. Nobody has admitted they love him to me. Doesn't sound too popular. Are we to believe the majority of America is too embarrassed to admit they love a thug?
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.
I agree that President Biden should acknowledge the existence of his granddaughter and even love her and help to insure her well-being and happiness. It's not her fault that Hunter fathered her, and it is only right that Hunter be held financially responsible for her upkeep and education. I am confident that in the long run, acknowledging and showing compassion for this innocent little girl will hurt Biden less in the polls than continuing failure to do so. And I agree that she is entitled to the name "Biden", considering who her father is.
Is this enough reason to prefer Trump over Biden for President? Far from it! As is becoming increasingly and glaringly obvious, Trump is by a large margin, the most corrupt, dishonest, authoritarian and divisive President this nation has ever had, with the possible exception of Warren G. Harding. I am not going to claim that Joe Biden is the best possible candidate for U.S. President, but, like it or not, he has already shown that he is enormously preferable to and less dangerous to our democracy and the very security of our country than Donald J. Trump!
Your deep state interference against conservative politicians and the populist conservative America First movement is the only real threat to democracy. Democracy doesn't mean ensuring Democrat rule even when they are a minority opinion.
Ajax, you are correct to use the word your. I and millions like me are the deep state resisting your conservative politicians. We are the voters and our foundations in belief in America runs deep. May you continue to founder angainst the bulwark of the American deep state which is protecting and building the USA.

The administrative state is subject to the President according to the Constitution. If the voters choose President Trump, democracy and the Constitution would say that their chosen president has the right to fire every last one of them because that's what democracy chose. How is protecting an administrative state hell bent on overturning an election in any way in line with the US Constitution. A check on executive authority belongs to Congress or the Supreme Court, not an entrenched bunch of partisan bureaucrats. And somehow Trump or DeSantis firing them when the voters choose them in an election is authoritarian? The left only wants democracy when they're in the majority. They only give a rip about the Constitution when it serves their interest. When it doesn't, they want to get rid of it.
Then you want to come back with whataboutism and other crap. Democracy will not solve our differences. It can't because your side doesn't play by the rules either. There's no honor nor respect left between us on a political level. What do you think that will lead to?
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

I don’t see where that happened with an ‘administrative state’, but I did see an ex-President try it once.
No, he started it while still in office.
And yeah, how is what Trump did while still in office and years after that in any way in line with the US Constitution? That's a good question that I have no doubt the MAGAtes of the world will never ask themselves, because they don't really care about the Constitution. I doubt very many of them have even read it. It is a much thicker book than they're used to, and without any pictures, well...

The entire Russian collusion hoax, the first impeachment, etc. all came from partisan Democrats in supposedly apolitical positions in President Trump's cabinet. They weren't elected. Donald Trump was. Their resitants as Lisa Paige called it was an attempt to undo the will of the voters. You can't tell me you care about preserving democracy. You only care about advancing your agenda.

ajax, do you really believe that Trump would have been booted from the Presidency for either the Russian collusion or Ukraine problems?
Your last line might be more of a mirror into your own frame of mind, if you simultaneously recoil at these events but cheer on the J6 insurgency.

The deep state believes they should determine who is president or be able to stop a democratically elected president's agenda they disagree with, not the voters and they've basically done that since 2015 and continue to interfere in presidential elections today. Don't pretend that Democrats want to preserve democracy when their side doesn't win. The real authoritarians are the deep state.

Yet another prime example of extreme projectionism by extreme right-wingers.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.
