And he defended me many times. Xenophon is free to cherry-pick what EAllusion said about me, but we agreed on almost everything.

You're welcome to apologize to me for how you've treated me.
Your earliest posting behaviour on the board seemed to me to be the kinds of poorly articulated reasoning papering over unethical beliefs that conservatives often argue are the depravities at the heart of progressivism. It made so much more sense to me that you would be a middle-aged Mormon trolling the board pretending to be a naïve young newly minted progressive whose freedom from the shackles of religion and worship of the new god Science created a troubling mix of rationalized depravity. It read like you were just fishing for someone to jump on your side and agree with you so the middle-aged Mormon person behind the persona could feel justified in their belief that progressives really were moral villains folks like MG2.0 and the Prager U crowd imagine to be the case. But EA was adamant that you were not trolling. He wouldn't get into why but I assumed it came from his professional background where, though he might not diagnose someone through their online behaviour, he recognized something that better explained it. I have always reserved a small non-zero potential that you are, in fact, just a middle-aged Mormon troll but accepted EA's expertise. Personally, I thought it more charitable to view it as an act but folks come in all sorts of different kinds.

Example: viewtopic.php?p=2720875#p2720875

EA certainly managed how he responded to you professionally, so it speaks to something that you perceived it as friendly to your views I guess.
I am pretty sure DT is younger than me. DT, when I started out here, I'm pretty sure people thought I was trolling. But I just needed to learn to communicate. I took English classes. I'm not the best and sometimes what is said in here goes over my head. I think learning to communicate will help.

Why would I do that? EA thought you were a knucklenuts.

- Doc
Outside of the cherry-picked quotes, EAllusion defended me plenty of times and explicitly stated his agreement with many of my views.

It's Dr. Shades who sometimes creates satire characters.

Most of my arguments and reasoning weren't bad; the problem was that you didn't seem to understand them. A lot of people here "routinely overread things," which is a phrase I am borrowing from EAllusion. I do remember him saying that a lot of people on this board don't have great reading skills. I admit I was guilty of that at times.

middle-aged Mormon person
I am a middle-aged man. If you divide 80 by 3, you'll find I reached this stage a while ago—80 being my life expectancy.

Thanks again for defending me. Hono accused me of being a middle-aged man as a form of ad hominem. My age is irrelevant; what matters are the arguments or facts being discussed. If someone wants to claim that I am a middle-aged man, that would be unnecessary speculation, unless they enjoy drama. Oh, wait.

Doubting Thomas? Has EA gone? Or do you mean not literally?
Nobody knows, but I find it unlikely that he simply decided to permanently cease participation without saying bye.

I think you are remembering me. After EA left here, I ran across him posting in another forum about public policy, politics, etc., just like he did here, and I read many of his posts. I knew it was him because I contacted him once on that other forum about something and he responded. That was maybe one to two years after he left here, If I recall correctly. I posted here about that interaction I had with him when people were asking about him back then.
Is it possible that someone was trolling you? Could it have been something like this:

You: Hey, you sound like EAllusion, is that you?

Troll: Yep, that's me.

You: Are you ever going to come back?

Troll: Nope

You: Why? Did you get into an argument with Hone?

Troll: Yes.

I can't remember who it was, but after EA left, somebody claimed to have been in communication with him and that he was doing fine.

Honerentheos has claimed that EA leaving had something to do with an argument with him, if I remember right.
It was Jersey Girl. Where did you get the "Honerentheos has claimed that EA leaving had something to do with an argument with him" from?

I have what sounds like good news! A friend saw my concern and contacted me with some information that indicates EAllusion Ok. I believe it's trustworthy. I am much relieved and I know the rest of you will feel relieved as well!

In other news. I do think he should be fired for abandoning his position as moderator. j/k!
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=153769&start=10

Unfortunately, we all now know how her friend got that information. I think it's more likely that Marcus didn't talk with the real EAllusion.

If you were just a vulnerable child under age 25 then what do you think the 16 year old is in the hands of a 30 year old?

I'm being sarcastic with these guys.

I would say she would be vulnerable.

Thanks. I’m enjoying the conversation.
Notice how nobody has reported the derailment on this thread, even though it's about EAllusion, who likely passed away. But if I say something slightly different on a thread created by someone else, my posts immediately get reported.
