I've never heard him say the words "I was wrong" or "I was mistaken" or even "That wasn't the best idea". There are ways to admit that and shift course while still saving face.

It is tragic how a man so clueless and uncaring about anyone other than himself as Musk can manage to acquire so much wealth and power. Despite being probably, the richest person on earth he apparently thinks he doesn't yet have enough. How can people otherwise seemingly as clever and accomplished as he continue to obsess over acquiring more and more of what has, so far, demonstrably failed to make them happy and content? He obviously thinks his wealth is sufficient proof of his great depth of both knowledge and intelligence. It reminds me of Tevye's song, in Fiddler on the Roof : "I wish I was a rich man . . . when you're rich they think you really know."
