The guidelines for this forum clearly prohibit any form of personal attacks! Your close friend Schmo frequently targets Ceeboo with personal insults, and you never call him out for it. Yet, when I share an A.I. generated image of Homer Simpson in a bikini, you imply that I'm overstepping boundaries.
You are being contradictory! Personal attacks extend beyond merely employing words deemed offensive. For instance, I could take the time to analyze your post and identify something to criticize your character about, discussing it for days until you become so upset that you might consider stopping your posts altogether. On page 9 of the Rules and Moderator information thread, you wrote the word N#####. And you did so without even attempting to substitute some of the letters in the N word with symbols, you typed the word out in its entirety, just as it is meant to be spelled for everyone to see.
I could leverage that one situation to my benefit by labeling you a racist each time you make a post. Most individuals who are not racist would likely find a way to obscure the N word when writing it. One could argue that since you opted to spell it out in full, it suggests a level of comfort with the term, as you did not choose to replace some letters with symbols.
However, I prefer not to label you as a racist, and if I were to do so repeatedly, it would clearly be seen (in my opinion) as a direct and overt attack, which goes against the guidelines of this forum.
Do you think that if I consistently reminded you in every thread you participated in about your use of the N word and labeled you a racist for not altering some letters with symbols, my persistent presence in various discussions could eventually be viewed as a personal attack?
It is clear that Some Schmo is trailing Ceeboo with the intent of launching personal attacks against him. For example,
Ceeboo initiated a lighthearted thread announcing his going to be a grandad, and the only participant who resorted to a personal attack was your close friend Schmo. In one of my threads, Schmo referred to Ceeboo as damned retarted. In various discussions, Schmo has directed personal attacks at Ceeboo on multiple occasions, sometimes launching several attacks in a single day.
My question is, would you perceive it as a personal attack if I repeatedly referred to you as a racist for using the N word in various threads, clearly intending to provoke you? If the answer is yes, then why not ask Schmo to stop repeatedly attacking Ceeboo? It's clear that he's doing it to provoke Ceeboo.
