Normally I'd say there's got to be something in child psychology that explains this. The lies are obvious, easy to counter, and there is no incentive to believe them, yet they keep coming and are met with frustration when dismissed. Up until recently, I've only seen this behavior from kids. "A dinosaur really did eat the votes! But nobody believes me! Waaaaaaa! Waaaaa!"

But with kids to parents, or with DJT making phone calls to other republicans, or lawyers to right-wing judges there's some form of incentive to play along, even if the incentive isn't enough. And if nothing else, there's attention-getting from a national audience. But when subs brings a case to this forum, it would be like DJT's attorney's making their case to liberal judges without the slightest incentive to take the lies seriously, and without any audience.

Trolling makes the most sense, but he's not trolling, he's dead serious. He really does, in complete earnestness, brings lies to the forum that he doesn't believe, that he knows nobody here is stupid enough to believe, and that nobody has an incentive to believe, and without any kind of an audience to cheer him on, and then gets bent out of shape when nobody takes it seriously.

Yep.

Stupidity is the most obvious explanation. An inability to harness emotion is likely another. Of course, a belligerent resistance to accepting reality is also clearly in the mix.

Trump and his followers are of a particular type of personality where they know they are acting like assholes and sociopaths, but want you to like them, accept them, and even admire them for their massive faults. And heaven forbid you ever act toward them the way they act in general. They want unconditional love and have no capacity to return it.

In other words, they are unreasonable and damned dumb.
