Ajax has claimed that nothing is more important to him than preventing Iran from getting nuclear weapons. Either he is abysmally ignorant or pathologically dishonest! He has yet to acknowledge this post quoting Lawrence O'Donnell's video showing unequivocally that 11 years ago, Obama and John Kerry triumphantly negotiated a signed agreement with Iran in which they promised to never develop nuclear weapons and let international technical inspection teams to ensure compliance with that agreement. Trump immediately tore up that agreement, without even reading it, to spite Obama and prevent him from getting credit for this diplomatic coup, for which Obama was justly awarded The Nobel Peace Prize, and then Trump imposed harder than ever sanctions on Iran.

Now he has started this incredibly stupid war, resulting in Iran angrily more determined than ever before to acquire nuclear weapons in self-defense and the closing of the Straits of Hormuz and enormously raising fuel prices. Nothing he could have done would have more surely guaranteed the very outcome that Ajax thought was most important to prevent! That Ajax cannot see or understand this is mindbogglingly stupid!

This JCPOA, reflecting a step-by-step approach, includes the reciprocal
commitments as laid down in this document and the annexes hereto and is to be endorsed by the United Nations (UN) Security Council.

Note the bolded text. So the agreement that Trump ripped up as 'the worst deal ever made' included a promise from Iran to never 'seek, develop or acquire any nuclear weapons.'

The most probable excuse for his lies about the JCPOA? He never read it. I mean, what reasonable person might have expected him to read a document 18 pages long before denouncing its content?

And now we have a ruinously expensive war, with no end in sight, allegedly conducted with the aim of inducing Iran promise to never 'seek, develop or acquire any nuclear weapons.'. But, but ... That is precisely what Obama negotiated as part of the deal that won him the Nobel Peace Prize ...

I don't think we'll ever get the same result, unfortunately. We might get an agreement from Iran to not pursue nuclear weapons, but Trump has shown them that the only guarantee for their own security is if they have nuclear deterrents. They already had an agreement, which (even according to Israeli intelligence) was working and they were adhering to. What reward did they receive for compliance? Trump scrapping the deal, imposing sanctions, and eventually joining in on an attack on them. They weren't the ones that scrapped the agreement, and now they know that honoring something puts them at a disadvantage because the United States is at the mercy of the next elected moron.

There's absolutely zero incentive for them to not obtain nuclear weapons now. Trump showed them that all it takes is an election in America to toss the world on its head.
