If I remember correctly, it was a Utah thrift-store find. I wore that jacket to a hoity-toity function once, and had quite a few well-to-do people ask me where I got it. Every time I said I got it at a thrift-store, the look on the person(s) face(s) was priceless.

Thrift-store Jacket = $20
Having millionaires wanting to know where they can get one = Priceless

There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there are thrift-stores.

Blixa,
Hope you have a speedy recovery. Perhaps I can send you one of these to help you pass the time:

Things be groovy.

How does the Proteus 2000 work? I'm looking at it and trying to figure out what it is. Does it go between the keyboard and the computer? Is it a hardware/software combo type thing that works as an external-soundcard type dilly? Or do you put your tally-wacker in the small hole and sounds come out of your mouth?

Well, I only shagged it once. (Ya know - it was all new and shiny. I just couldn't help myself!)
Yeah - sounds did come out of my mouth at the time - as I recall.

Oh - did you want a serious answer? Ok... :)
You stick a MIDI cable up it, so it's hooked up to ya MIDI controller keyboard, sequencer etc.
I then have the audio outs wired up to my audio card in's. It doesn't actually 'directly' connect to the computer (like .via USB or like an audio card) - it's all .via MIDI and audio leads.

And Roberts ya father's brother. Cool sounds 'R Us.

All those knobs on the front are for editing the sounds. It's a half-sample, half-synth sound module. Pretty nifty. I REALLY like the strings on it. Pretty cheap, but still pretty sweet...

Oh OK. That's a much simpler way of saying what I just said! Heh.

So, it could essentially be used with any keyboard that has a MIDI "out" (like if I were to want to use this type of thing for a live show)? Or is it mostly something you'd only want to use for recording?

Yeah sure - it could be used in a live show.

If your gonna be switching sounds during a set, you'd probably want to set up all your sounds in advance and switch between them with 'Program Change' MIDI commands from the MIDI keyboard, rather than having to start messing with the front panel on stage. Probably.

Apart from that, should be fine...

Good to see you here, Ren. Awesome gear. How do you like Cubase? I used it with a friend about five years ago. I've been using GarageBand for everything recently. Here are some more pics of my stuff:

My Explorer and my amp are at my parents' house. I'll put pics of those up later.
