Socialism has been explained to him numerous times, both in terms of the "theory" and the fact that the Marxist theory is nothing like what existed in Russia or China.

I didn't say he listened or understood. Only that he's had the whole thing explained to him numerous times by numerous different people.

It has been a long, long time indeed since I've needed anyone to explain to me what Socialism is. Indeed, I've spent a great deal of time here on political threads attempting to explain its nature and salient features to a number of people, many of which are leftists and have claimed to understand it but patently have nothing more to offer than the sweet platitudes of socialism's historical proponents regarding what they believe it ought to or should be. What it actually is, what it actually accomplishes, and the psychological, philosophical, economic and moral nature of its core concepts and practical implementation seem, more often than not, to escape the intellectual scalpel.

Then there are those here who's primary objective is always to scrub socialism's actual history in practice, as well as the moral and psychological nature of that which really motivates its supporters, clean of the well deserved moral and intellectual opprobrium it has so effectively earned over the last century.

There seem to be two broad classes here: those who don't understand socialist doctrine, ideology, and practice, and those who do and hence must continually attempt to clothe the emperor.

I know what socialism means, what it is, and what it actually does to societies, economies, and cultures that take its theory seriously and drive it to policy, in whatever form that may take, be it "democratic socialism:, Fabian socialism, Communism, whatever.

Then there are people like you who like to play dress up with socialism and make it appear pretty, attractive, and benign, covering the leprotic sores and perfuming the moral, intellectual, and economic rot.

The wise, the intelligent, the educated, and the righteous, will not be so easily fooled.

I happened to listen to a local conservative talking head on the radio today and he said,"We won't win if it is just Palin sinking her beak and claws into Obama. McCain has got to get down and dirty and go for the blood and guts too. He has to pull out all the stops if he is going to win."
