Simply put. canpakes engages in knock down drag out confrontations with one or more posters and then moderates the threads inconsistently. That is the dumbest I can make it.

I know you do not have issues with moderators participating, and you want them to participate. But when the moderators are confrontational and then also moderate selectively and favorably to their arguments (real or perceived) that just means that every conversation and move by that moderator is not taken seriously.

You can stick up for your moderators, and you should. But I do think we should all acknowledge that as long as at least one particular moderator is not meeting the standards that you published and expected, you will not likely get the moderation and participation that you may have expected. You will get a sh**show though, which could also be interesting.

As it relates to the OP and title: no conversation with canpakes involved is likely to be a serious one, as they are all expected to get moved to prison or chopped up or whatever anyways. So, it is what it is.

This is the most ridiculous nonsense I have read in a long time.

Shades, Binger apparently has some severe issues that result in him posting in a completely disruptive manner. Canpakes' efforts to stay light and funny in the face of binger's bigotry, harassment, childish name-calling and obscene messages are frequently the only way a thread can continue. Cp has a really effective touch for distracting both Binger and AtlanticMike, and the two of them frequently follow this mod around, slinging mud without pause, but at least they are distracted enough to briefly leave others alone. I feel bad we have to let someone be so mistreated in order to distract the trolls, but this mod is an expert at it.

Seriously, Shades? I apologize for intruding on your question to Binger here, but in the spirit of 'free speech' I'd like to offer an opinion about Binger's complaint.

The two who responded to you (Binger and AtlantiMike) have been trashing our board and destroying conversations since they got here.You cannot possibly NOT know they are trolls, and when they are not disrupting threads and harassing posters, they are harassing the moderators. They are taking full advantage of your free speech policy to completely destroy this community forum. They have taken a thoughtful, interesting online forum and treated it like it's 'students gone wild' Spring Break all year long and they are the dumbest, most bigoted freshmen to ever have mommy and daddy pay for them to drink their way through college. People have to work hard to find a place to have a discussion in peace, but invariably, the vast majority of threads are destroyed by these two. It's impossible to wade through dozens of posts and multiple pages to get to actual content, and forget using threads to communicate with any friends you may have here. It is, unfortunately, a fairly common situation online that discussion forums risk being destroyed by insufficiently moderated trolling. I wish you could find a way to balance your free speech goals with some sense of how meaningful and important forum communities and undisrupted discussion can be, especially now. This doesn't mean no disagreement, obviously, but 'disagreement' is not what the trolls are engaging in. They are engaging in disruptive posting that is intended to destroy the communication process in this forum. Their methods are absolutely typical of the trolling done across the internet, and their arguments that they just want to 'improve' the forum are facile and disingenuous in the extreme.

This is an excellent example, Shades. Threads are split in order to follow your rules, and the mods are meticulous in acting as a 'clone' of you when they do so. Most people get the point when an act of moderation affects a post they have made, but these two trolls refuse to follow your rules so their posts are constantly being moderated. And when they do follow the rules, they work as hard as possible to follow the letter of the law, while violating the spirit of the law as egregiously as they possibly can. I've never seen two posters work so hard to just 'imply' (so they don't actually break a rule) bigotry, hatred, and straight-up mean-spirited nastiness as these two. It is discouraging to try to follow a thread and have these two destroy conversation after conversation with their childish antics.

And the name-calling is grating. This time it was just "panny," which is rude enough, imnsho, but if you want your ears to singe read back through the disgusting and obscene names binger has called canpakes. They deserve hazard pay just for tolerating all of that.

Interestingly - and related to both this point and the prior - I remember you ranting on about mods ‘chopping up’ your threads and allegedly ‘moving your posts between threads’ that you claimed to have started. Later, you admitted to Res (publicly, even) that you made that crap up.
