One thing I do remember very clearly about that press conference was how agitated and defensive Trump was at the questions. It seemed pretty obvious to me he was uncomfortable trying to juggle a response that wasn't racist but also didn't piss off his biggest fans.

Did Trump not have a meal with the anti-Semite Nick Fuentes?ceeboo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 7:03 pmSenate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a speech that "nobody who breaks bread with antisemites like Nick Fuentes, and who called white supremacists in Charlottesville 'very good people,' or who, as was recently reported, said disgustingly that Hitler did some good things, has any right to lecture Jewish Americans about their personal political beliefs."
On the rest, I refer you to my post above:

There I explain that the problem is not that Trump clearly and unequivocally praises white supremacists and anti-Semites. The problem is that he does not swiftly and unequivocally condemn them. His condemnation of such people in the Charlottesville event came two days late.

Truth rests on the same standard for all of us. Claims like this are either true or false. This one happens to be false.
If you are flaming on Trump, there are many things you can choose - use something other than the claim that he said Neo-Nazis and white supremacists are very fine people. It's not true and claiming he said It lowers your credibility.

Re: Russia Loves Vance on Ukraine
It is not so clearcut. See my comments above. If your standards are very low, then, yes, one cannot say he called everyone fine people. But the standard has usually been the swift and unequivocal condemnation of white supremacists, white nationalists, and anti-Semites. By that standard, Trump and his team failed spectacularly. They consistently got this wrong.

I already admitted he didn't say those exact words.ceeboo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 7:45 pmMy standard?

He certainly allowed people to interpret his words that way. That is the truth, and if you can't admit that, then you're not being honest with me or yourself.

Your assertion of it being false cannot be definitively confirmed.ceeboo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 7:45 pmMy standard? Some Schmo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 7:17 pm

Technically, it could be true. The entire crowd of folks attending a rally organized and attended by neo-Nazis and white nationalists, regardless of whichever ‘side’ they were on, was not polled and assessed for their very fineness. They all could have been louts, for all we know. : D
Rather than arguing over the technicalities of just who Trump was referring to, perhaps it’s a whole lot more instructive to consider why he felt he needed to say it in the defensively confused and rambling way that he did.

CeeBoo would argue that Trump did not carefully chew his food and threw none of it against the wall that day.

I am fairly sure he sat down at a table with obnoxious anti-Semite Nick Fuentes. He may not have eaten, but it was just him, Nick, and one other person. It was clear that Trump was there for the purpose of getting together with the other two.
