Do you know which evac zone they are in?
Me? No I don't. Heck I just found out earlier today that my sister moved back to Cape Coral from St. Pete. Her friend is someone I went to HS with. I didn't know they knew eachother! She's staying with the friend and says she thinks the house sits high enough. I've been to the friend's house. Listen...it's one of those 1 story Florida sort of ranch style houses. If the storm surge really turns out to come in at 10-15 ft...

They're not going to leave there...they can't now.
If I’m reading the Fort Meyers tide gauge correctly, they should be okay.

Here is my brief video showing the light tree debris from my house.

Thanks for showing us that, Kish! Happy to see that your clean up is really only tree debris. :)

So my sister...late last night she wrote two posts. "Show time, here we go." with a scared emoji and not long after that "Power is gone". Then communication stopped. I hate black out periods when you know folks are scared like that and don't know what is happening.

As for me...I kept waking up during the night praying and sometimes checking on the progress of the storm. When I woke up this morning around 7 a.m. I got a message!

She and our friend made it just fine! No power still and NO flooding! :D I absolutely expected their area to flood but it thankfully did not. So people, animals, cars, and house are all good! Not sure about my sister's house since they hunkered down together in the friend's house.

Apparently (got this from the news) after it passed through the area and headed toward Orlando it eventually weakened to a Cat 1.

Anyway all is well in the area including a young man and his family who is essentially family to us. No word on St. Petersburg folks who evacuated to Jacksonville. I think they're probably fine.

So relieved...a bit sleep deprived!

I’m glad all is well.I didn’t realize I know/know of people scattered all over Florida, until I’d think so and so should be okay, but now the storm is headed toward so and so.

Very happy for your sister! Thanks for sharing that Jersey!

Hurricane Milton would be one for the history books if Florida still allowed history books.
It could always be told to Floridians as an allegory about a naughty wolf threatening to huff and puff and blow the house of Three Little Pigs down. Surely that would pass the watchful eyes of the Florida Surveillance Committees.

Jimmy Kimmel noted that meteorologists are getting death threats from Trump's base for pointing out that the weather is not being controlled. Pretty soon Trump will be President again and his base will be given free rein to subjugate the former America.
