Hound, I think you have half of a point. I do not hear Democrats saying Trump is Hitler. Hitler is special. People are disturbed by Trump's rejection of an election, making plans and efforts to reject it inciting a violent effort to overcome the election and pardoning the people who violently attacked police at the capitol. Whatever name this has, it horrified many Americans.

It is hard to understand why so many Americans forget these things. Perhaps you have a point, exaggerated pictures of Trump may make people forget. On the other hand, somebody convinced people Harris was a Marxist and wants boys in the girls bathroom so problems with Trump were forgotten.

As well, your brown-skinned neighbors want to eat your pets, the local teachers want to cut out your child’s gonads and change their sex, and Democrats in general want to send you to death camps and drink the blood of Christian children.

I rarely heard much about Trump being the ‘embodiment of Hitler’ from my left-leaning friends. This accusation is more an invention of the right wing noise machine. But the number of times I heard the short list I’ve repeated above being repeated at Trump rallies - sometimes by the candidate himself - was significantly more numerous.

By Hound’s reasoning, Democrats should do more of the same, not less. But I don’t think that the name-calling will matter to many voters more than how they perceive their finances are going.

As Trump says, he won because of ‘the groceries’. Why would Hound pretend to not be aware of that? ; )

This order suspends the USRAP until such time as the further entry into the United States of refugees aligns with the interests of the United States.

Trump administration welcomes white South Africans upon arrival

A group of 49 white South Africans were warmly greeted by the Trump administration upon their arrival at Dulles Airport near Washington, D.C., on Monday after they were granted refugee status as victims of racial discrimination.

In a jarring departure from the Trump administration's posture towards all other refugees, Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau personally welcomed the group, saying he respected "what you had to deal with" and "the long tradition of your people."

"Welcome to the United States of America. It is such an honor for us to receive you here today," Landau told the group, many of them holding American flags.

Hours after he took office, President Donald Trump shut down the refugee resettlement program, effectively ending a pathway for refugees fleeing violence and persecution to secure asylum in the U.S. and choking off all funding for refugee resettlement.

“I hope and I trust that the American people have very open hearts. We are a very accepting, we're a very friendly, welcoming people,” Landau told the Afrikaners.

The Trump administration granted the group refugee status on the basis of what it calls anti-white discrimination from South Africa’s government. Trump authorized South Africans to be resettled as refugees in a February executive order that took aim at a law enacted this year that authorized the South African government to seize property. It also criticized South Africa for leading the United Nations case accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in its war with Hamas.

Ahead of their arrival, Trump claimed the white South Africans are the subject of “genocide” – an accusation the South African government says it not supported by evidence.

“It's a genocide that's taking place that you people don't want to write about,” Trump told reporters in White House Roosevelt Room. “It's a terrible thing that's taking place, and farmers are being killed... white farmers are being brutally killed, and their land is being confiscated in South Africa.”

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has said accusations of racial persecution of white South Africans is a "completely false narrative."

The South African government said on May 9 that "The South Africa Police Services statistics on farm related crimes do not support allegations of violent crime targeted at farmers generally or any particular race."

The group Genocide Watch has noted that while South Africa's population is 8% white, whites make up just 2% of its murder victims.

'It's just performative'

Elon Musk, who is South African, has accused the government of discriminating against its white population since before he joined the Trump administration as a special government employee and head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

Ramaphosa signed a law authorizing the government to seize land without compensation the owner in January. Decades after South Africa's apartheid system of racial segregation and rule by the white minority ended, whites still own a majority of land and control a hugely disproportionate share of the country's wealth.

Laura Thompson Osuri, the executive director of Homes Without Borders, was among three protesters demonstrating near the airport's check-in counters as the South Africans arrived on Monday afternoon. "Afrikaners are not refugees," read her protest sign.

"They're letting in these Afrikaners as quote, unquote refugees, while tens of thousands...that are actual refugees are not allowed to enter," Osuri said.

Osuri, whose organization helps refugees resettle in the Washington area, called admitting the Afrikaners as the Trump administration has shut down channels for refugees from other countries "absurd."

"It's just performative," she said. "They're not fleeing war, violence, persecution."

Trump's shutdown of all refugee admissions – except for white South Africans – has drawn heavy criticism from humanitarian organizations.

The Episcopal Church's migration ministry said on Monday it would end all its refugee resettlement grant agreements after the Trump administration asked it to help resettle the Afrikaners.

"It has been painful to watch one group of refugees, selected in a highly unusual manner, receive preferential treatment over many others who have been waiting in refugee camps or dangerous conditions for years," Sean Rowe, the ministry's presiding bishop, said in a letter.
