You're wrong. I had clicked on the hyperlinks an that article and just checked them now again. I found nothing that weakened the premise of that article or my conclusions about it, or which lent credence to your claim. I think that you are the one who doesn't understand the full implications of Trump's tax plan.Markk wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 1:53 amI didn't expect anything Gunnar. I realized you did not understand the tax code or clicked on any of the hyperlinks in your link. Which is why I did not saying anything at the time. If you did you would have seen that Trump proposed to lower the tax rates for every class, except for the two that basically don't pay taxes anyways because of standard deductions. I understood you were just cutting and pasting stuff without understanding what you were pasting.

No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Until the senate and house is done with it you are correct, I don't understand the full implications. If you want to die on that hill fine. It is why I did not say anything in the first place, and probably should not have brought it up. If you believe that a person making 15k a year is paying taxes, when the standard deduction is 15k or more...then do so.Gunnar wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 2:56 amYou're wrong. After the bill is signed, we can go through it if you want.

Re: Auto pen....
Are you forgetting that those making 15K a year still pay sales taxes and other taxes other than income taxes? Those taxes are going to rise due to Trump's idiotic tariff policies. And there is also the probable, massive cuts of Medicare and Medicaid and other Social Security benefits, which can prohibitively raise their expenses and lower their income. And don't rule out the probability that Trump may try to raise more money from lower income folks by lowering their standard deduction in order to make it possible to facilitate the massive tax cuts for the very wealthy.Markk wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 3:28 amUntil the senate and house is done with it you are correct, I don't understand the full implications. You are just changing the subject. And if you read his proposal, and what I wrote earlier, Trump's proposal raises the standard deduction 1k for single filing, and 2K for married joint.Gunnar wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 4:28 amAre you forgetting that those making 15K a year still pay sales taxes and other taxes other than income taxes? That means they may even get monies back...and if they live in California, they can use that money to pay state taxes that only allow a $5,540.00 standard deduction....and using your new line of thought, they will pay up to 10% sales tax on everything they buy....but one thing that will help them, even in California, if it survives the Senate....is the SALT deduction will raise from 10k to 40k, so if that person on a fixed income is living in a state with a huge property tax, that will help them a lot.
No tax bill is perfect, taxes suck period. I would like to see a straight tithe personally, but if you just read left wing negative articles that focus on the negative, you won't see the bigger picture or the good things the tax bill has to offer.
Personally again, as a capitalist, I want the rich and everybody else to pay less in taxes in that I believe the government will just waste that money. I would much rather the rich by more homes, cars, boats, pools, RV's, electronics, and keep the economy moving.

Neoliberalism enters the chat, I see. Appropriate given the devastating effects its embrace had on wealth inequality. You might think after four decades of evidence it does not result in the wealthy spending their wealth to raise all ships, but rather they hoard it, that it has been tested enough folks would treat it with more skepticism. Actually most do.

You're expecting a man who suffers from spinal arthritis to play golf? You're demonstrating just how much of a pathetic shill you really are, gushing over Trump's golf play when we all know he is notorious for cheating and playing against people who know better than to let him lose. And WTF does golf have to do with cognitive decline? You fawn over the number of interviews he does but pay no attention to the fact that he makes a complete ass of himself every time. Doesn't matter to you if he is rambling on and on about the "great late Hannible Lectre" or confusing Nancy Pelosi with Nikki Haley over and over again. The fact that he took enough speed or Sudafed to talk in front of a bunch cameras impresses you when that is just another attribute of narcissism.Markk wrote: ↑Fri May 23, 2025 11:54 pmLol...you can call the guy an a-hole or what ever you want but cognitive decline is really funny. Did you watch the break 50 with Bryson? The guy has got to be a legit single digit HC.

Sadly Republicans are just not raising taxes as much but continue spending like Democrats, even Tom Cotton. The Democrat promise that all this welfare for all citizens of the world, perpetual war with Russia, can be paid by taxing the rich is just a lie that people continue to believe because they want to. Most of European democratic socialist countries start their top tax rates at as little as $60k/year. The American people will never vote for that nor should they. There is zero political will on both sides of the aisle to make the necessary cuts to medicaid and social security that it will take to make any real progress toward reducing the budget deficit. I don't see how the national debt doesn't crash the economy at some point. One thing I know for sure is that the American people will never vote to pay off the National Debt, or even just put a halt to running a budget deficit voluntarily.Markk wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 3:21 pmYou are just changing the subject. And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Trump floats raising taxes on the rich to pay for his sweeping tax and spending cuts package
President Donald Trump said he’s open to hiking taxes on wealthy Americans to help pay for Republicans’ sweeping tax and spending cuts package, but the idea remains hotly contested among GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
In a Truth Social post Friday morning, Trump said that he would “graciously accept” even a “TINY” tax increase on the rich, while acknowledging that that it could bring political risks for Republicans. House GOP lawmakers have been struggling to find $1.5 trillion in spending cuts to help offset trillions of dollars of tax reductions.

Lol. no, which is the point, Biden had dementia, and cancer....and I guess spinal arthritis and he is challenging Trump, who can play, to a driving contest and round. Did you watch the Breaking 50? I am saying Biden has a difficult time walking, let alone play golf with Trump, who just played with Bryson DeChambeau and really contributed in the under 50 quest. Bryson and Trump did better or as well with Bryson than players like Sergio Garcia, Tom Brady, Phil Mickelson, Tony Romo, and others.Vēritās wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 10:37 pmYou're expecting a man who suffers from spinal arthritis to play golf? Do you really think that that Newsweek article is creditable? It also said that Biden was okay ....3 months later was the debate that said otherwise. And now the books confirm he was in clear decline, and there will be more to come.
