I am SO jealous right now.

Hey silentkid :)

Nice kit mate. Likin' that mic. I think I remember reading about it when that first came out. Pretty quality condenser - right?
Lovin' the bass too.

I've got a Focusrite TrakMaster for the preamp stage:

...and an old M-Audio 10-10 for the soundcard input:

Mic's a Rode NT1:

I wanna get a better mic soon. The NT-1's OK (very cheap!), but I find it a little thin a lot of the time... It's the only bit of my kit that I'm a little disappointed with at the moment.

...how ya findin' that Blue mic?

How do you like Cubase?

I've always loved Cubase. But that's probably just because I'm used to it - I've never really used anything else.
It's one of those things where I just stick with what I know :) Just don't want to learn another system now...
I do like SX. Unlimited Undo is very handy sometimes...

Trevor,
Heh - yeah. When I saw you're list of stuff, I thought you might like the Virus.
The proteus is a good workhourse for various different sounds - but when you think 'I just need something that sounds f****** cool' - you've gotta reach for the Virus. I could play with that thing for hours on end - it's just too wicked...

That workstation keyboard you posted in looks pretty sweet...

Thanks. I'm fine now. My ankle goes out easily---I was going to have surgery to help it, but now I'm getting contradictory information from doctors.

Just holding on 'til the end of the semester....

It's the Kawai k5000s, which combines additive and wavetable synthesis. The keyboard has a real nice feel to it too. You can pick one up pretty cheaply. I bought it when it first came out.

In the past I have owned (not all at the same time alas) a Roland JX-3P, a Korg 770 monophonic, a Yamaha DX-7, and an Ensoniq VFX. Oh, and I once borrowed a Polymoog for over a year. Ah, the memories.

I really do love the new virtual analog gear. And, my dream is to own a vocoder. Reason has one, but it only processes internal (within the program) signals, which means I have to sample my voice before I can robotize it.

By the way, I am trying to use Cubase 4 with my Tascam FW-1080, but I can't seem to get it to work. Have any suggestions?

Nice history mate ;) The DX-7 is legendary...!

The tascam FW-1080 is the hardware mixer thingy for 'virtual' stuff..? Never used one of them. Na - sorry, don't really know much about 'em...

Yep, that is right. I got snookered on a special deal. If you had Cubase LE, which came with the Tascam, you could, for a limited time, get a reduced price upgrade to the full Cubase. When I upgraded, my Cubase quit working with the Tascam, and I found out that the Tascam did not really support the full version of Cubase. It seems that Cubase has their own hardware interface that they were trying to sell.

You can pick one up on eBay pretty cheap. My aunt stole it from me and gave it away to a friend. She is crazy that way.

I also want an autoharp and a pedal steel guitar. I guess I'm hopelessly analog ; (

Speaking of pedal steel...I saw Wilco last night and Nels Cline was on the steel (as well as lead electric, at which he is absolutely retarded). It sounded perfect. I wish I knew how to play one of those.

I would have relations with a goat for one of these:
