I think one interesting aspect of the story is the dog that
didn't bark.
What I mean is this: According to Trump, Manafort was with the campaign for a short period of time, and was not terribly important. Now if a man was with your campaign for a short period of time was caught giving your polling data to a foreign power, why isn't your first reaction shock and outrage that this act happened?
This week we get confirmation from an unredacted filing from Manafort's attorney that he was giving campaign data to Russians. Either Trump knew this happened or he didn't. The President and Giuliani have consistently denied any collusion. Now Manafort, a man Trump trusted to run his campaign, betrayed that trust by giving data to the Russians, and made a liar out of Trump and everyone else who claimed there was no collusion with the Trump campaign. Why aren't the President and Giuliani furious, I mean FURIOUS, with Paul Manafort?
If this is the first time they are hearing this news, where is the sense of betrayal? Remember this line from Trump's Inaugural Speech:
At the bedrock of our politics will be a total allegiance to the United States of America. Through our loyalty to our country, we will rediscover our loyalty to each other.
And so the man who made that declaration at his Inaugural says nary a bad word about Manafort? Methinks he doth protesteth too little.
