Here’s a useful link about the claim, and whatever Trump was trying to say.

He is not making it up, he is just parroting non-sense with drive by, baseless, assertions by others making it up. You can say what ever you want about Trump, and much deserved as with all leaders, but his trying to force what Trump actually said in context, into what he read and ran with is just nonsense. Trump was talking about German folks like Oskar Schindler, Duckwitz, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and scores and scores and scores of other Germans that helped Jews in Germany and in other occupied countries.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 8:58 amYour link doesn't work, so I'm guessing this is just another made-up story by you, . . . right?
Did any Palestinians, or Hamas members try to help the hostages, I don't know, and if they did, then Trump was wrong and you can criticize that if true.

Ahh, I see. After reviewing canpakes' link, that makes much more sense.Markk wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 3:41 pmTrump was talking about German folks like Oskar Schindler, Duckwitz, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and scores and scores and scores of other Germans that helped Jews in Germany and in other occupied countries.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 8:58 amYour link doesn't work, so I'm guessing this is just another made-up story by you, . . . right?

Re: Trump Math
There is a reason why it is important to have leaders who speak with some adroitness and care. You don't end up scratching your head wondering what the hell the person is talking about and worrying that it *could* mean the worst of the options.
Stories like this one are a distraction. The real news and real worry is that he will start sending his detractors to a Salvadorian prison. He is actively trying to make that happen. In other words, kiss effective citizenship and constitutional rights goodbye. Trump is after your constitutional rights, and the other branches of government are doing too little to stop him.

“Oops. We sent a citizen that we just happen to not like, off to an El Salvadoran prison, and now we don’t know where they are. Oh, well.”
As you’re saying, it’s hard to not see where this is going. Who or what will correct this when it happens?
Elsewhere on the board we have someone droning on about the supposed evils of DEI, for some reason that they can’t even define. This threat from Trump of ‘accidental deportation’ would seem to be a bit more urgent. Distractions abound.

Re: Trump Math
Today the leader of El Salvador essentially refused to return Garcia. So there we are, the Supreme Court is ineffectual, because Trump will just ask his buddy the tyrant of El Salvador to refuse to do what the Supreme Court demands, so that Trump himself can do an end run around the Supreme Court.canpakes wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 1:54 pmA few weeks from today:

This is a link to the video in which Trump tells the leader of El Salvador he wants to send US citizens to Salvadorian prisons. He says tells Bukele he needs to build five more prisons to do what Trump wants to accomplish.
If you don't find that horrifying, you are beyond help.

Good thing that link worked, or Shades may have become apoplectic.

Re: Trump Math
I, for one, am horrified. The fact that Trump advocates sending even U.S. citizens, possibly even U.S. born citizens, to an El Salvadoran (or any other foreign prison, for that matter) adds to the horror. If this is not a blatant violation of the Constitution, what is? This alone ought to be grounds for impeachment!Kishkumen wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 6:37 pmhttps://x.com/JonLemire/status/1911825703458279801

No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.
