Re: Vaccines and therapeutics
The truth is that most Republicans, particularly the Trumpists, don't care how many vaccine preventable deaths occur due to promoting anti-vaccine disinformation, as long as there is a chance they can somehow attribute the failure to curb the pandemic to Biden and Democrats in general. To them, even these preventable deaths are merely collateral damage that is preferable, in their eyes, to losing the next election to Democrats. In my eyes they are accessories to preventable homicide!

No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I don't think this can be applied to ordinary Republican voters en masse. But it does seem to have some truth as applied to many Republican linked politicians and political commentators.Gunnar wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 6:20 amThe truth is that most Republicans, particularly the Trumpists, don't care how many vaccine preventable deaths occur due to promoting anti-vaccine disinformation, as long as there is a chance they can somehow attribute the failure to curb the pandemic to Biden and Democrats in general. But who are these pieces of walking talking human ordure who abuse and insult to their face nurses who are spending exhausting hours, days and months of their lives trying to keep COVID19 sufferers alive, and accuse them of being in on a conspiracy?

Thing is, if enough of them refuse the vaccine, the margins of their base will die.Gunnar wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 6:20 amThe truth is that most Republicans, particularly the Trumpists, don't care how many vaccine preventable deaths occur due to promoting anti-vaccine disinformation, as long as there is a chance they can somehow attribute the failure to curb the pandemic to Biden and Democrats in general. I read that the NFL sent a memo to all 32 teams saying that any team that has a COVID outbreak this season and can't play a game safely will forfeit the game and be fined.
Good. I completely agree that businesses should be able to require their employees to be vaccinated to retain employment.

Re: Vaccines and therapeutics
The ‘alarmist modeling’ was that the health care system would be overwhelmed, and there were situations in some states early on where infection rates stressed the system, even with ‘lockdowns’.Epidemiologists are divided between those who want more lockdowns and those who think that approach wasn’t effective and might have been counterproductive. Mr. Ridley sides with the latter camp, and he’s dismissive of the alarmist modeling that led to lockdowns in the first place. “The modeling of where the pandemic might go,” he says, “presents itself as an entirely apolitical project. But there have been too many cases of epidemiologists presenting models based on rather extreme assumption.”
Few folks want to discuss why we would have such a problem in the first place from a practicality standpoint (structural limitations of the healthcare system). This discussion would yield better solutions that redirecting to a claim that deployment of lockdowns was solely rooted in ‘politicization’
Even so, seriously restrictive lockdowns weren’t deployed in the US. Last March, India imposed a 21-day lockdown during which the government required that residents not leave their homes. At that same time, the US was leading the world in confirmed cases while undergoing unnecessary political squabbling on our approach to the pandemic, driven by bad actors and a President who occupied his time with nonstop stoking of divisiveness and rancor.

Re: Vaccines and therapeutics
No one believes that the vaccine will eliminate every chance of getting the virus so you’re stuck pushing a lie in trying to be contrary. This is where your act fails.

Help me out here. Are your chances of contracting COVID reduced if everyone is vaccinated? Are your chances of a severe reaction or death reduced if so?

That comment wasn’t changed, only clarified, and it appears that you were responding when I did so. The comment would otherwise have an ‘edited’ note if yours had posted previous to the edit.Cultellus wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 6:11 pmHey Darling, we seem to agree here so if I am lying you are lying because we are the same here. You seem to have changed your comment after I responded so we can get back to agreeing. I agree that no one believes that the vaccine will eliminate every chance of getting the virus. Yes on that even though we pretend that getting the vaccine is like having our own personal rugby team beating off the virus. Too though if everyone was vaccinated nobody could get the virus from an unvaccinated person.
Now, you seem to be implying that getting the vaccine will reduce your chances of infection, or reduce the chances of a severe reaction if you do contract COVID. Agreed?
