A strong Progressive isn't?
According to Wikipedia, “While in Congress, Walz was a strong supporter of gun rights and was endorsed by the NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) multiple times, receiving an A grade from the organization.”

He seems like a well rounded politician, not as polarizing as someone like say, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The rest of that paragraph continues "Following the Parkland high school shooting in 2018, he denounced the NRA in a Star Tribune opinion piece, and announced that he would donate the equivalent of all of the campaign contributions the NRA-PVF had given him—$18,000—to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.[102] As governor, Walz expressed support for gun regulation.[103] In 2023, he signed into law a public safety bill that establishes universal background checks and red-flag laws in Minnesota." I think these are more than reasonable actions, personally, but those on the right will I'm sure say he's coming to take all our guns, just like they did with Biden, Clinton, and Obama.

drumdude that's only part of the entry. The rest impresses me even more.

Smart pick. Pete or another woman would have been too alienating to the average voter.
I would have preferred Pete but I agree with what you said. It's just too soon for him.

I wish we lived in a country where that wasn’t the case. But we’re slowly catching up to Europe where women Presidents and Prime Ministers are commonplace. That’s great progress if she’s elected.

I might be putting my foot in my own mouth here but I'm afraid this country is going to have to wait until a bunch of us Baby Boomers die off which is weird to say since we also come from the Free Love generation and all that, not to mention Civil Rights movement, Feminist movement and a whole host of other progressive type things from back then. Seems like the Baby Boomers rebelled against the establishment and then we became it.

I would happily vote for Mayor Pete. He's remarkably intelligent.
